Some tribes living in the Hazara division are pakhtuns but have forgotten Pashto and now speak the local languages, the most notable among them are Jadoons and Tareens.
^ Multan and Mianwali are areas with strong "pathan" influences, Kasur in Punjab has a substantial population of charsaddawal Muhammadzais to this day. In the end being a Pathan is more about ghaiarat hen the langauge..I know a lot of pure blooded Pakhtuns who speak Pakhto fluently but don't have even 1% Pakhto in them..
The reason for pakhtuns east of the Indus losing their language skills is mostly economic..the local economies have little in the sense of trade with the pashtun belt. Peshawar doesn't really compete well with Islamabad either!
Hus Sa: ask a Waziri lashkar to sort out Azizi .. after all the waziris used to be able to remove Afghan Kings who annoyed them..
That reminds me how is your waziri pakhto? That and Bannuchi dialects sound strange!
Man both of you guys need to calm down and read my post again.
How's an Afghan gonna have problems with other Afghans in Waziristan? Waziris are our own for your information, same as all of the other tribes, you should know that. :) So take it easy 'dawg.'
Zakk the Wazirs are busy at the moment :P I understand the Wazir dialect. I think it's really cute the way they replace "kha" with "sha"
Azizi, I might visit Afghanistan this summer. Tell me how to go about it and where to go. Where is this place called Ahmed Khel?

It's the same with some Hindko speakers from the Attock district, I think they might be ethnically the same, it annoys me how they clain to be Pathan.
[/QUOTE]
Taz, my family is from Attock, we're Rajputs. The actual town is a mixture of Hinkians, Punjabis and Pakhtuns..so there is a lot of overlap. I would say that the majority of the people would be Hinkians.
When you say that they claim to be "Pathan" they are probably right, but it is not the same same as the Pakhtuns. Zakk and I have discussed this matter of of Hindko speakers, and I think the general consensus is that Hindko speakers are niether Pakhtun nor Punjabi..but a separate group.
I don't understand all of this "claiming" business, it seems like many Pakistanis that are not proud of their background come up with these stories. In the eyes of Allah, it doesn't matter what your background is, instead it is your actions that matter. Certainly be proud of who you are, but don't turn it into a superiority thing.

Hinkians and Hindko speaking Pathan’s are not the same. Hinkians are darker and are not from Chach but some other part of Punjab, I have vague memories of stopping at a bus stop in their city (can’t remember what it was called) on the way to Jhang about 10 years ago, their was a family living in our village, they spoke Hindko but I’m not sure if this was their mother tongue or picked it up in our village.
There are still some Hindko speaking Pathan’s from Chach who speak Pashto as well and carry the name of their Pashtun tribes.
There’s one tribe which calls it self Pathan but from what Sultan Suri posted a few years ago it seems like they are Baloch carpet weavers. ![]()
I also love Waziri (Paktyawal) accent, its really cool. i know i can speak it.
hey Azizi Jana, da emeng Pukhtonaa dey, dai yaye che dai zonta khalaq de, za bo dai ta Pakhten ala wa yayam che kala dai emo kaley ta roshe. olta ba lashkey Pakhtenwali aa wer wa shayam, ka tsarey?

Tel Dee Vee Afghanistan!
My cousin thinks we are different ethnically and that the word ‘Pathan’ has two usages Pashtun’s and ‘high caste’ Hindko speakers who follow ‘Pathanwalgi’ but to me it seems like both are ethnically the same.
My cousin says “Pukhtoon keyaouN hona chanaeiN? Oh te baouN bayghayrut honayneiN, apRiyaan tareemtiyaaN bhi peseyaaN waasey vechnin te bacheyaaN naal ghalut kam bhi karnin” ![]()

SS I know very well what's happening in the tribal areas, my cousins are from Wana and I've been there twice and I love that area and the people. When did I ever say I agree with what's happening there? My post was simply directed towards the comments on the "superiority" concept. And did I ever say I love Urdu "more" than Pakhto? Read carefully: I said "I still love Urdu so much". Poay shuay wrora? I don't think spending endless hours discussing these kind of issues is going to help the tribals. Maybe doing something practical might. And I do NOT think that NWFP should merge with Afghanistan. That makes no sense to me whatsoever.
PS. I'm a khor.

Khorey, you can judege 20 million Pashtuns view just by urself.
I know Waziristan pretty well, and i also know who they want to be a part of. so plz don't say that you dont want it to happen millions of us do. again i cant get this over my bloody mind...why the hell don't you ppl want us to unite? heheheheh.....

*Ahmad Shah Abdali The Great *
Carefully read the poem, and try to get the message Ahmad Baba wanted to deliver us. The hardships we are faacing now did not begin now, it's been since even Ahmad Babas time. He says WE ARE SURROUNDED BY ENEMIES - NONE OF OUR NEIGHBOURS ARE KEEN TO US.

I understood ur Wazir dialect perfectly :P Well I'm not the only one with the view. I don't get it. What do you guys want? Like you want NWFP to become a part of Afghanistan?
btw, nice poem but it's old. Isn't it time to change our views?
Yeah good coz most ppl have troubl with reading t he normal Pashto writing. : )
Yeah sure, go and have some research on this in Peshawar, i know what view you would end up with.
Yeah i want to UNITE with my AFGHAN brothers, and make the whole of Pashtun inhibited areas indenpendent of foreigne rule.
THanx, well thats history and we are not to ignore it. Eventhough being that old, just look at what it says, heh, i rekon that states that we are broad minded people and we could bring change into ourselves but only when necessary.
hmmm...VIEWS about what?
Thanks Aryan, I needed that poem.

I had the pleasure of paying a visit to pashto.org. It was an "interesting" experience. The superiority complex is alive.
