The accused, a software professional, was an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, which is one of the premier colleges in India imparting education in computer engineering.

the above office is not a liason office. the stated purpose is not for rescuing american citizens off treetops but explicitly for counter terrorism and trans national crime, the very same purpose the presence is in Pakistan for.

as for whether or not FBI acts directly in Pakistan, or whether through proxy, and how that is different from how it gets people in China and India is a matter of speculation. Try getting official word from FBI that it arrests people in pakistan, and tell me if they tell you anything. Anything else, and read this very carefully, ANYTHING else that you produce is an allegation based on random news sources. It does not become ‘fact’ between you and I.

So on the basis of facts, that FBI has upto 40 offices worldwide for counterterrorism, including china and pakistan, what can you conclude?

Kucch naheen. When American people or companies are involved, FBI is often allowed by locals. The key is local permission.

But what is great about Pak self respect is that the FBI can operate 44 offices there and arrest anyone without local puls involved.

See the way I see it you have to hate Pakistan pretty bad if you're an indian and you come to a pakistani bulletin board, confine yourself solely in the pakistani affairs forum posting solely negatively. so Im not surprised that you can take a report's speculation of 44 offices as fact, you can find it intangibly, catastrophically different when local police facilitates FBI arrests in Pakistan and in India. and Im sure by now everyone here has marginalized you as a borderline, foaming at the mouth indian who would call pakistani gold mud.

facts are that theres FBI office(s) in Pakistan, as in China, as in 40 other places. fact is FBI arrests pakistanis in coordination with local authorities as in other countries like India. news sources quoting 'information sources' arent proof beyta. i can probably find you a news source that proves all indians smell. cognitive dissonance to ignore that too eh?

beyond that is just the rantings of a bechara cribbing lil indian. no biggie.

Ravage darling,

FBI has liaison offices in dozens of countries. That is usually restricted on one or offices in the capital or big cities where tehre is an embassy or consulate. These offices have little power unless the local govt decides to seek their expertise, especially in cases involving American citizens.

In Pakistan, the FBI has powers to arrest anyone, record any conversation, monitor communications, watch financial transactions etc.

I’m yet to see a self-respecting sovereign state that allows foreigners to do what its local puls should do. Have you?

and about FBI operations in Pakistan, I see no harm in that. FBI does global operations. In Pakistan if they’re involved in capturing law breaking terrorists, then thats perfectly fine and very good for the stability of Pakistan.

We have tried our best to become a 'failed state'...alas...again we have FAILED to become a 'failed state'...I am optimistic that next time we will do better by learning from our experiences...to become a failed state...

PS: Every state is bound to fail sooner or later...including the CIA... :)
