Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

Well, I hope you're right. I just want a win against India. That's it :D

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

With Hafeez, Younis and Haris as fifth bowler it will be difficult.

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

So I should worry :(
I take it from all this that our batting is strong or better than bowling. Right? And India is opposite?

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

Just have a look on our bowling line.

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

Here is why you have a huge advantage. You are wondering which is stronger - Pakistani batting or bowling. We are wondering which is weaker - Indian batting or bowling or fielding.

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

:hehe:

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

A below-par performance against NZ

On the evidence so far, Pak will struggle to score 200, let alone 250 (which still won't be enough) against most countries. This team does not have the quality (apart from one or two batsmen) or depth in batting to score 300+. Bowling is nothing special...arguably the weakest Pak team to participate in a World Cup

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

:afridi: again our highest scorer

Oh man cant believe lala will retire after WC :frowning:

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

Afridi Misbah Partnership today: 71 runs off 38 balls. Misbah: 6 off 13Afridi: 62 off 25. lulz](https://twitter.com/hashtag/Lulz?src=hash)

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

team balance is just not right. I wonder if Hafeez is able to justify his specialist batsman tag in those conditions? His bowling will be missed though.

I also think Sohaib Maqsood needs to play but in whose place?

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

:younis:

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

It is criminal to play Younis Khan, someone who does not even merit a place in the ODI squad, at the expense of obvious talent, Sohaib Maqsood

Have Moin, Waqar and Misbah got the guts to drop Younis?

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

Saw every delivery he faced. What a treat. Bang bang from the get go. In the blink of an eye, he moved past Misbah, who was on I think 54 when Afridi came in.

What impressed me was how he used his mind. One lofted shot. Followed by glide past third man for 4.using the pace of the ball. And for two consecutive balls going outside leg, just a nice touch for 4 to long leg.

He had one life. Other than that a masterful inning.

His attitude was positive, body language positive.

And in the three overs I saw him bowl, he bowled well.

Misbah played well. Hafeez and Younis need to go.

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

Afridi is love uncle

:afridi: is love
:afridi: is life

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

well since they selected him, they have to make him play as well....................

they shd not have selected him and foad alam shd be there...

anyway, given younis is now there and he has at least played on these bouncy pitches before, let him play. plus if he fails, this chapter will be closed forever and he wont be able to make anymore noise.

on the other hand i love the his spirit....he is a fighter

who knows, younis may win this WC for us!!!

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

Agree, Afridi batted with a lot of common sense today, something we don't normally associate with his batting.

Well, Afridi have been using his head for last few months. This being his last WC, we might see a different Afridi than we are used to.

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

Agreed that Afridi played much sensible inning albeit few shots here n there. Everytime he endorses how immensely talented he is. And yes agreed with waleed that it'll be really sad to see him leaving.
Let me breakdown this batting performance in first ODI:

Now if you observe how Pakistani batsmen were playing, they literally had no clue. they were dancing on the wicket against quickies.
The way hafeez and younus got out, they had no idea wut happened. Same with umar akmal.

Both shehzad and Haris sohail were looking good but they gave a gift. Why in the world would you touch a ball that's going that far. Its basics. Especially shehzad's would clearly be declared a wide.

Sarfraz had to go for high since score was so low and we were in the first over of batting powerplay.

Misbah, played brilliantly but i guess lost his calm in the end and got caught on boundary. He wasnt supposed to do that since Afridi was already hitting from other end and there was no batsman behind. But well, he still did good.

So Pakistanis have to learn from their mistakes if they wanna survive in WC till atleast second round otherwise they can go hom much earlier.

I think they will easily make it to the second round, since top 4 teams go through. Question is will they advance any farther.

Re: Pak vs NZ 1st ODI

On the shot that got Misbah out, it was such a effortless flick of the wrist. And the ball went so far. The commentator first said - "good shot." Then he said "oh didn't quite carry"

That was not a bad shot. In other words, a calculated risk that could have gone for a six. If Misbah is in similar situation, he probably should not change a thing. It just might carry further.
