cricket running techniques tell a nonstriking batsman to follow the striker and not the ball or the fielder. Pakistani batsmen do the opposite.

Salman was at fault in running half-way down the pitch. The ball went in front of the batsman, behind the non-striker's end, who had to look at the direction where the ball went, and in that scenario, the striker is responsible for making a run call.
