Pak visa

Do you have to get it beforehand or can you get it at the airport??

Re: Pak visa

You have to get it beforehand. I'm assuming that you hold an Australian passport.

Re: Pak visa

legallybrown,

Check if u can apply for NICOP or POC. If u are eligible for NICOP then apply for it, instead of POC.

Re: Pak visa

It takes about 6 months to get an NICOP. At least, that's what the lady at NADRA in Washington D.C told me. My Pakistan passport is about to expired in a week. This is ridiculous.

Re: Pak visa

Najim, i checked the prices for that, they were extremely ridiculous.

I'd rather get a visa than apply for something Im only going to use once.

Re: Pak visa

LegallyBrown,

NICOP costs $15 for 10 years card.
Visa costs $10 for 30 days?.
POC costs $100 for 10 years card.

I went to PK on Visa twice & then got the NICOP sorted, keep in mind that u can have NICOP only if u can hold dual or multi citizenships. For me NICOP is the best choice, particularly if just wanna get up & go to PK I dont need to arrange a visa/pakistani passport in next 10 years.

Re: Pak visa

If your (real) brother or sister .... or ... parents live in Pakistan or are currenly in pakistan at the moment with address there then ask them to apply for NICOP on ur behalf, take 10 days to get it. When I applied it from Canada it took four months but when I wanted the change of address to Europe I was in PK & it got sorted out in 10 days. (you have to pay Rs900 fee = US$15)

Re: Pak visa

My POC was issued after 3 months when I was living in Austria.

@Najim: Do I have to get the address on my POC changed, now that I live in Dubai?

Re: Pak visa

Umer,

Well technically yes, but its not necssary since u are Austrian national so Austrian address will do, but if u permanently move to live in UAE then you must have to.

Re: Pak visa

Najim what country are you living in ? :(

I wanto live there too.

Visa one way is $77.
Visa multiple is $150 and
The card is $150

Re: Pak visa

Are you talking about Australian Dollars? The rates that Najim mentioned are in US$ and are standard rates all over the world.

Re: Pak visa

Well. I have cancelled my residence in Austria, ie I have moved to the UAE permanently.

Does that mean that I need to get a new POC issued?

Re: Pak visa

Umer, do u have permanent residency in UAE? or you have residency visa only?

If you have permanent residency in UAE, the you have to change the address on POC, but if you are on a residency visa then you dont have to (although its optional to change).

Re: Pak visa

What's the difference between permanent residency and residence visa? I assume that by permanent residency you mean a "lifetime" residency visa. Here in the UAE the only residency visa you can get is a 3-year renewable visa. Not longer than that. So even the people who have been here for 20 years, have those 3-year visas and renew them every time.

Re: Pak visa

1) Assumingly, the Austrian Address on ur POC is the permanent address, where ur parents are living etc. The no need to change it. If none of ur family lives on that address & your or ur parents dont have the ownership of that address then it must be changed.

2) Since you are living in Dubai on 3 years visa, if option 1 is satisfied having ur parents still living at the address mentioned on ur POC, u dont need to change the address, otherwise it must be changed to address in Dubai.

Re: Pak visa

POC's are not being issued anymore. They make NICOP now which costs $22 (as opposed to $100 for POC, $50 for kids) and it does take a few mths to get it as its issued directly from Islamabad. For visas they charge $100 in NY, I got them to put in a 5 yr visa.

Re: Pak visa

What do they issue for people who don't carry a Pakistani passport but used to qualify for a POC card? i.e. those married to Pakistanis or children of Pakistani residents, or those who let their Pakistani passports expire

Re: Pak visa

They're giving out NICOP to them. They need copies of the parent/spouse NIC and that's it. I applied for one in December but still haven't received it.
POC's still work though if they aren't expired ofcourse.

Re: Pak visa

what’s NICOP and POC?

Re: Pak visa

If you read the information on the website u will know what they are & which one u should apply. But if u are applying it while u are in USA, it takes around four to six months to have it from the date of application.

If u have a NICOP or POC - u dont require a visa to travel to Pakistan, with that card u get visa free entry on ur US Passport.
