Oh Dear. They've called it off. Handshakes all around and the captains have decided to end it. South Africa didn't expect to cause a miracle in the last few overs, nor did Pakistan want to risk going for the remaining runs. Excellent effort from these two, Younis and Misbah, playing their first Test after a long time, who have helped Pakistan to safety. They were under pressure when Azhar Ali fell and though Younis was lucky, dropped by Boucher early in his innings, and so was Misbah, dropped at short leg by Amla, they batted with determination to defy expectations in this first Test. South Africa will be rueing the missed chances and given the inexperience further down the order, the story could have been different had those chances been snapped.

Am not really diaappointed as Pak were favorite to lose the match…and finally due to some responsible batting…pulled a draw… 
And moreover…after Yunis & Misbah…Pak really didn’t had reliable batting to come…

It is very easy to criticise Misbah here. But just imagine if these two had perished in the next 3 or 4 overs going for the runs, Pakistan would have been in serious trouble then. The late middle order and the tail has hardly contributed with the bat in recent tests. Umar Akmal is woefully unpredictable. We all know what happened in the first innings when Pak collapsed from 176 for 2 to a paltry 248

I am just wondering if Misbah should have taken a bit more risk in when we were within last 15 overs. Anyways, I’ll take the draw over defeat anyday! With Pakistan’s batting, you never know. Once set batsman is gone, rest can fold within 5-6 overs.
anyways IMO, Pakistan (misbah) should have taken chances with at least one more wicket. we were SO near to a WONDERFUL victory.

I dont think that is much of an argument, SA collapsed as well. Hota hai, you should have confidence. One of them should have gone after the bowling and if he had perished than they could have reigned in the chase. on the other hand Umar could have played a blistering innings and taken us home. Anything could have happened but to surrender like this is pathetic.

Well the strategy clearly was to “save face” but as most said the ball was not doing much and even Umar would have managed some runs…so it seems a timid decision.

Good 100 by YK…Pakis really needed this one. Well done Misbah as well. Reasonable 50 by Azhar as well…a little slow though..he needs to speed up a bit…

Although IMO, Pakistan (Misbah) should have taken chances with at least one more wicket but again I dont think we should expect it from NEW CAPTAIN in his FIRST TEST MATCH. Any captain of more than 20-25 games must have gone for the kill and to be honest it really wasn't a kill.

The Team is on the right path. We just wanted to play normal cricket, everyone just said you just play your normal game. The pressure has relieved a bit."

Great Innings by Younis! Well suported by Azhar Ali, who has been scoring with the bat (SR doesn't matter since this is TEST CRICKET), and Misbah showed some mettle with bat after a long time! Great Draw! Eid Mubarak Majeed...take that you a$$wipe!

To close the cap...I still think...Misbah (may be with Younis on the crease) had still taken the right decision to go for the draw...as planned initially...and on the other hand...the coming batsmen were two Akmals...the younger one is sar phira and the other one not so experienced...and then the tail...SA might have removed them with some tricky bowling...so all the efforts gone wasted and so the loss...hmmmmmmmm
