Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

10.54 am Six New Zealand batsman made fifty-plus scores, they've reset their records for highest totals and the most boundaries hit in a Test. Can't ask more with them needing a win to save the series. Well, maybe a more responsive pitch. But that's where scoreboard pressure comes in

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

Must appreciate Rahat who tried very hard on this surface.

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

NZ took first hour of the morning and I think its a good chance for Pakistan to play sensibly in remaining part of 1st session.

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

Pakistan will probably try to play safe/defensive and somehow play over the next 5.5 sessions which will be an uphill task.

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

On this track completely defensive cricket will not work. 5 fielders around the batsmen will make their life tough. Pakistan should play normal cricket, should not take unnecessary pressure.

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

PAK team reminding every one how much unpredictable they are. 26/3

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

Hafeez soft dismissal.

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

Misbah the savior - yet again
but the writing is on the wall

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

Can Pakistan survive this session... it seems like they are facing Curtly Ambrose, Malcom Marshal and Walsh...

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

63/5

Well played NZ. Great match by them. The same pitch where they were scoring freely, even their tail, we have capitulated.

Still great last two months. 5 matches, three wins, one draw, one loss. Just hoped they showed a bit more spine in this match.

Well played srfraz

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

hain, aap match thread mien.

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

I don't mind loosing, it is part of the game, but at least show us some fight... don't just bend over.. anyway... good season for Pakistan

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

Now they have started playing the way pitch wanted them to play... but this is the last recognized batting pair... and a long road ahead...

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

I know that best chance Pakistan has/had was to go for a draw, and that is what I wrote in my post.

Only thing what I tried to mention in my post is, how to go for a draw, and to me, it was, letting NZ keep playing as long as possible. That means, not taking any wickets, but do defensive bowling as much as possible (keeping in mind, not to take wickets). In that way, whatever runs NZ makes, they would consume overs and time for Pakistan.

Unfortunately, Pakistan took all remaining wickets and called trouble for themselves. But then, regardless of what happened, the way Pakistani players played, especially first 5 batsmen, negative batting weak on their knee, whatever the situation, Pakistan would have been in trouble as they are now. I think, before starting the batting, Pakistan should have supplied them with plenty of Salajeet and Majun.

Anyhow, I feel once 5 wickets gone, Sarfraz and Shafiq are playing positive cricket with lots of self-belief.

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

I think, arrival of Sarfraz on crease and showing aggression, changed the attitude of Shafiq batting for better.

Re: Pak V NZ - 3rd Test

^^ and as i said.. playing a session or two would be great achievement for them and they have proven me right yet again

Salajeet.. lol... they were suppose to play cricket with the wooden bat and ball.. not golf with playboy chics :)

anyway, agreed the approach was wrong and so was the technique, they needed to play aggressively, same way, NZ played and there was a chance for draw at least would have put NZ bowlers on back foot...
