10.54 am Six New Zealand batsman made fifty-plus scores, they've reset their records for highest totals and the most boundaries hit in a Test. Can't ask more with them needing a win to save the series. Well, maybe a more responsive pitch. But that's where scoreboard pressure comes in
On this track completely defensive cricket will not work. 5 fielders around the batsmen will make their life tough. Pakistan should play normal cricket, should not take unnecessary pressure.
you do know that there is still 6 more sessions to go! right? And Pakistani team was bowled out by Craig!!!
The game is out of Pakistan's hand... the best they can do is to bat for draw... some thing which need temperament of Mohd Yousaf... there is still 180 overs to go... the lead is already 250+...
I know that best chance Pakistan has/had was to go for a draw, and that is what I wrote in my post.
Only thing what I tried to mention in my post is, how to go for a draw, and to me, it was, letting NZ keep playing as long as possible. That means, not taking any wickets, but do defensive bowling as much as possible (keeping in mind, not to take wickets). In that way, whatever runs NZ makes, they would consume overs and time for Pakistan.
Unfortunately, Pakistan took all remaining wickets and called trouble for themselves. But then, regardless of what happened, the way Pakistani players played, especially first 5 batsmen, negative batting weak on their knee, whatever the situation, Pakistan would have been in trouble as they are now. I think, before starting the batting, Pakistan should have supplied them with plenty of Salajeet and Majun.
Anyhow, I feel once 5 wickets gone, Sarfraz and Shafiq are playing positive cricket with lots of self-belief.
^^ and as i said.. playing a session or two would be great achievement for them and they have proven me right yet again
Salajeet.. lol... they were suppose to play cricket with the wooden bat and ball.. not golf with playboy chics :)
anyway, agreed the approach was wrong and so was the technique, they needed to play aggressively, same way, NZ played and there was a chance for draw at least would have put NZ bowlers on back foot...
