Aren't we short a bowler in this lineup? But where would we fit in Sami? I can't think who he can replace but this bowling lineup is weak compared to what we're capable of.
If it were upto me, Imran Nazir would be sitting out and Shoaib Malik would be playing. Hmm, but that still doesn't solve the problem. What is your take on this guys?
4 fulltime fast bowler
1 fulltime spinner (Afridi)

I dont think Saqi should be replaced by Sami - one reason you already have 3 fast bowlers in Razzaq,Waqar and Akram. Saqlain and Shahid Afridi can fill in the spinner's slot. I think Affers bowling is better than his batting and can be trusted with that.
We need Saqi playing as we need him to sort his game out before the World Cup and this is a good stage to do it.
My team would be :
Anwar
Afridi
Younis Khan
Inzamam
Youhana
Razzaq
Shoaib Malik
Wasim
Latif
Waqar
Saqlain
This seems to be our most balanced lineup with plenty of batting and bowling options.
i dont think nazir will be sitting out....
he has been brilliant lately....
and i think pak will settle for afridi as a full-time bowler....
or maybe the will replace him with sami....
but i still think afridi shud be playing....
Afridi is one of those players that on his day can win a match and i think he should open. The Sri Lankans are not dangerous with the new ball and i think Afridi can slaughter their bowlers if on form. We all know about his 37 ball hundred against them. Afridi is valuable to the team for his bowling as well so in my opinion is indispensible to the team and i'd be surprised if he wasn't playing.
One don't understand why Taufeeq Umar isn't in the squad though. In the Pakistan domestics he was outstanding and should at least make the squad.
I think Sami should play but he is fringe and Pakistan should see how good he is during the Morocco series. Maybe put him instead of Shoaib Malik from my original team.
Yes i understand that Afridi is inconsistent but on a small pitch against a poor set of opening bowlers which Sri Lanka have i think he could be very useful.#
Against Ntini and Pollock he will find it a lot harder and Imran Nazir will be a better proposition for opener.
I do whether he opens or not think Afridi should be in the team because he is a very good 6th bowling option so should play.
Anwar
Nazir
Youhana
Inzi
Younis Khan
Razzaq
Afridi
Wasim
Latif
Waqar
Sami

I like this team more..I might switch sami with saqlain depending on the pitch and performace but having a sixth bowler option is not necessary for us as we already have a fiercing bowling attack, any damage done by a fifth bolwer(afridi most probably ) can be covered by wasim, waqar razzaq or even sami..
Sixth bowler will give us more option but i dun see as a necessity. Teams with weak bowling attack might wanna use this option but not us.
We need to strengthen our batting by having more depth to it..heck even waqar and shoiab akhtar can bat pretty well..they cant be called typical tailenders.
We should just stick to five bowlers.
