LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a 15-man national cricket team for the 10th Asia Cup in Sri Lanka to be played from June 15-24.
PCB chairman Ijaz Butt told at a press conference here on Thursday that fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar and allrounder Shoaib Malik have passed their fitness test after which they have been included in the team.
He said that he had no pressure on selection matter.
On this occasion, captain Shahid Afridi said that a balanced team has been selected for the Asia Cup.
The team is as follows:
Shahid Afridi (captain), Salman Butt (vice-captain), Imran Farhat, Shahzeb Hasan, Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Asad Shafiq, Umar Amin, Abdul Razzaq, Mohammad Asif, Moahammad Aamir, Shoaib Akhtar, Saeed Ajmal, Abdul Rehman.
Reserves: Mohammad Irfan, Fawad Alam, Athar Ali, Zulfiqar Babar.

This squad selection is bogus. Because they kept Younus Khan out of this, kept delaying his case. But they select the "termite" Shoaib Malik. And what has Imran Farhat done, except getting the sifarish from susarji? How many overs will Shoaib Akhtar bowl?
I am planing a quite (A banners in the ground)protest in DXB aganist these termites(The Butts and the A$$e$ et all) of pakistan cricket, when Pakistan will be playing aganist South Africa..
Younis shouldn't be playing ODIs anymore. I have been saying this for the last one year but I am not a selector so it doesn't really matter what I say or think. His performance has been pathetic for the last 18 months. Not playing ODI is better for him if he really wants to prolong his career with Pakistan as a Test player.
I am dissapointed to see Shoaib Akhtar. He may have performed well during 2-3 domestic games back in April but the fact remains that Pakistan cannot depend on him based on his past fitness issues. How wise this move is to pick him up for a tournament in Srilanka where Pakistan will be playing their World Cup games in 8 months? They could have used this opportunity to groom a younster for the World Cup.
Can't say anything about Malik. His inclusion was expected and why not? His ban was lifted and plus he is a good ODI player.
I thought Asad Shafi was a wicket keeper? But the cricinfo report says that Akmal is the only keeper selected for the squad. Not sure if Asad is selected as a batsman or a reserve keeper.
Heard some good things about Umar Amin from Wasim Akram. So lets see if he gets a chance as well.
Good to see Shahzaib in the squad. Hopefully he will play with some sense to cement his place and kick Imran Farhay out.
I hate the seletion of TERMITE AKA( Shoaib Malik ) also do not like show boater AKA ( Shoaib Akhter ) selection, i would instead go with Hammad Azam for Malik and Mohd Irfan for Akhter, and Khalid Latif for Imran Farhat, we have to give the new guys a chance to see what they can do this would have been a good exposure to that, but nfortunatly until that buddha Butt is chairman nothing will happen right in PCB.

Hammad Azam, after being part of the T20 WC squad was not even part of the 35 probables announced. So, that tells you the foresight of the PCB Selectors.
