confused, it really depends on the girl and her side to what they ask for haq meher. I have heard all kinds of ranges from 500 to 30,000 USD. Some guys will also say the girl can keep the jewelery too (yep the engagement ring you are talking about).
Ambar, haq mehar is a woman’s right to ask for at the time of the nikah. I am not sure how important or unimportant it is for people these days since i havent attended a lot of weddings but i am sure it varies from couple to couple.
