PAK-NZ ODI Series 2004

Poor performance…

jitnay razzaq ne banaye uss ke double khaye:nook:

Stephen Fleming was in his classic form. Nothing could have prevented him. It's that simple.

While the idea of dropping Shabbir did surprise me but it had to do with trouble batting, and again batsmen flat out on a batting pitch. Pakistan have lost 7 out of 8 matches against New Zealand on Christchurch ground.

Openers did their job well. 50 runs in 9 overs but then Imran Farhat did his best to get out. With two poor matches, Yasir Hameed came back strong. Saleem Elahi held it together one end and Youhana chipped runs from the other but again he became the victim of his own bad call. At 140 runs in 30 overs, Pakistan was well on its way for 280+ runs but two wickets(Inzi and Malik) in an over bowled by Tuffey blew everything away. It happened again when Elahi and Moin were out in the same over of Styris. Razzaq has proven yet again why he's a dazzler!

The start for Kiwis after falling of 1st wicket was huge and it was just a matter of taking singles to do the formalities. Inzi couldn't have done better. When you have five bowlers, you don't have much choice.

Waisay, so far Pakistan and New Zealand have won games by chasing the target. Manu ya na manu, toss did play its part in three matches and it's most likely, according to the weather in New Zealand, the team will have a better chance of winning/clinching the series who bowls first.

:salam:

I am very disappointed Pakistan lost. The Pakistan total was just not good enough on that pitch. Pakistan will have to do it the hard way if they are to win the series. Insha’allah they will perform alot better next game and take it into a decider.

Uphill battle now as Paksitan will need to win the remaining two matches to take the series. What this match has proved is what I have always felt that a long batting line up is not necessarily your saviour. At the start ofthe match I was shocked to see that Shabbir had been dropped. I would have dropped Azhar and kept Shabbir. You need at least 3 regular bowlers. I put this defeat down to bad team selection.

I agree. i think it's ridiculous they dropped Shabbir when he's been bowling well.

Its gonna be a monumental task winning two matches on a trot. I , hope ke they dont lose the next game atleast and make the final match interesting to watch.

a pathetic bowling display by our boys!!! they could have defended 255 not with ease but they could have!!! sloppy simply sloppy :yukh:

I agree, three all rounders doesn't make sense.

^^ ya i agree . it puts a lot of onus on abdur, azhar n malik to bowl well. they are all not regular bowlers n do have their bad dayz quite so often. we have seen in this series that only 2 regular bowlers r not gd enuf to beat nz, so ya the best thing to do is drop azhar, he hasnt done anything to deserve that but we have no choice. shabbir shd come in and i also want to see more bowling from farhat.

also our mid order needs to do more. inzi has been lazy in this series. he is the skipper, he shd play more responsibly. somehow i really don see this team winning the next two games still. i think we will win the 4th n go down in the 5th - just my prediction.

Malik has bowled well, although his batting has been dissapointing. I would keep him around and let one of Razzaq or Azhar sit for Shabbir.

With the way they are batting, especially the middle order, we can forget the India series, it could get ugly. Our team is making the mediocre Kiwi medium pacers look like the 80's West Indians....
