PAK-NZ ODI Series 2004

Shoaib finally make reverse swing count and Styris's middle stump is out of the Ground

NZ 188/3

Need a few quick hat-tricks... :)

34.3 Shoaib Akhtar to Styris, OUT: Gone!inswinging delivery, Styris went
for the drive, missed the line and middle stump out of the ground

New Zealand 188/3, Partnership of 30
   SB Styris b Shoaib Akhtar 20 (16b 2x4 1x6)
   SP Fleming 87* (108b 9x4) Shoaib Akhtar 7.3-0-33-1 (1w)

2 overs left from Shoaib, if he can strike 3 or 4 times, Pakistan can still win it.
Please bring back Sami

your wish has been rejected :rotfl:

35.1 Abdul Razzaq to Fleming, one run, fuller ball, driven to long off

   Abdul Razzaq replaces Malik

Inzi still take ths match aas a full 50 over match…

what a delivery.

Razzaq bowls, inside edge, ball head towards the stump and McMillan stops the ball centimeters away.
Moin argues with McMillan that the ball was too slow to knock off the bails, McMillan says it was going to knock off the bails.

If Moin is right, then McMillan can be given out by double touches.

And McMillan smacks Razzaq for 4.

Ball change!

And Azhar comes to replace Shoaib.

209/3 after 39.1 overs.

Inzi is stupid. He Shud have brought on Shoaib and Sami when new ball was selected.

40 of 54 balls

25 off 45

Pakisan once again down in this ODI series by 1-2...should we win the next 2 straight matches? :)

poor performence by Pakistan :nook: Lets hope we bounce back in the next game to take the series to a fifth and final game :jhanda:

I knew it from the begining…we were 35 odd runs short.. It was dead batting wicket, and our batsman Specially, Imran Farht, Yoyo :smack: and Inzi double :smack: :smack: made a waste out of it…

If they had made a big partner ship with Elahi, then the reslt wuold have been different.. and thanx to our ever so brisk fielders.. we lost the match by a big margin… :frowning:

I guess it was a batting pitch so our bowlers were as helpless as our batsmen. Don’t leave out Imran as yet. Let them play same batsmen, these openers are good, but only problem is PATIENCE, shot selection. Imran loses his temper very quickly and Yasir falls for baits, if these two can take deep breath after every two balls, they should be fine

The problem is of 3 all rounders though. We need to drop one of the three. Shoaib Malik has been out of form with bat and hasn’t done exceptional with ball, so perhaps he is the weakest link. But if we drop him, then do we bring Kaneria to cover “spin” attack? Sami needs to learn more variety, I didn’t see much from him yet for variety. His slow ball is also fast enough so becomes useless. Didn’t see many yorkers.

Good bouncers from Shoaib to McMillan though :hehe:, that guy must be still shaking.

BTW, Stephen showed what a CAPTAIN’s knock is :k:

poor performance overall :nook:

Bad Team strategy

yaar aaj tu had ker dee team nay.. :(

Firstly I think inzy lost the hope way before when NZ needed 100 runs. There was no strategy of fielding... singles kee waja say bowlers were getting frusterated.. Bowler tu sirf bowling ker sakta hay agger fielding hee nahee hogee tu faida?

Even javed said at the lunch time kay this pitch was for 300+ runs

Today we really felt how much Wasim was needed.. NZ kee team itnee achee nahee hay.. What would happen when INdia will play in Pakistan? Indian tu champion hain slow pitches kay ... Plus in yesterday match Pathan was doing REVERSE SWING.. Keep in mind.. only PAKISTANI knew how to do reverse swing.. pata chal Waseem Akram is in Australia for commentry etc.

well.. our teamis new.. but boyz are good.. we need Younas Khan in team.. Azhar should be out.. Have to take this risk.. if Younas khan comes in team.. we will have 6 bowlers....

kya zamana change hota hay.. aik time tha when 4 bowlers was enuff for Pak to take care of rivals.. now her bolwer ke importance hay.. :(

u r rite abt teh problem with the openers. but there is a big IF they can temper themselves down. n they have shown no signs of doing that. I would drop imran if i were the coach. this guy alwayz gets out the same way. i would either bring in younis as opener as a quick fix for this series, n he has opened b4. or send malik as opener, so that we can keep an extra bowler i.e shabbir.

another option could be dropping mehmood - which wont be fair coz he’s been ok but then again a tough decision needs to be made. if taufeeq was fit then i would have dropped moin, but taufeeq has something wrong with his knee n i dun think he can keep wkts rite now.

I agree.. but I think we should be more worried about up comign indian pakistan series. India has practising on a very nice fast pitches.. plus india has a plus point on last world cup win.

We should bring changes fast... if I were the coach.. main Attacking bowler ka patch up Side bowler kay saat kerta. like for first 6 overs Shoaib and AZhar.. we let attacking bowlers do first 15 overs.. and then batsmen start hitting.. there should be a constant pressure.. like Shoaib -Azhar, Razzaq with sami and Malik.. is say side bowler per pressure nahe hoga..

I think what shobi was doing was not a sign of good sportsman. Infact I think Kiwis were making bowlers tired.. and if you have noticed of not.. Kiwis have learnt ALOT from Yohana's last match batting.. quick singles... this would put pressure on bowling team...By the way, it was Saleem's call to run and he di start running.. Yohana was out on bad decision of Saleem. I think aftr Yohana.. team lost the track.. then Inzy is outta track..

lets hope they keep themselves in series...

Same old story in this match,,, another failure in the middle order. What were Inzi and Shaoib doing getting out on ducks. I was'nt impressed by Yoyo getting run out either, he is a veteran player and should know better than to get out in such a poor manner.

Abdul Razzaq batted well, but as usual, he did something else poorly to compensate. His bowling was poor. He needs to imporve consistency so he has decent performances in both areas. I think we need Shabbir their for the next game to provide another attcking bowler to pressure the NZ batsmen.

As a whole, it just did'nt seem like Pakistan showed up ready to play today.

Uphill battle now as Paksitan will need to win the remaining two matches to take the series. What this match has proved is what I have always felt that a long batting line up is not necessarily your saviour. At the start ofthe match I was shocked to see that Shabbir had been dropped. I would have dropped Azhar and kept Shabbir. You need at least 3 regular bowlers. I put this defeat down to bad team selection.
