Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
i think they should use the storys wat they use in there dramas for films instead, they should also use the directors from drama industry and directors who direct commercial ads and music videos, they are talented,
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
I agree. They also need to get rid of all the paindu lollywood stars e.g. rambo, saud, etc etc and start afresh by casting people from the drama industry.
They definately need new sound recording and camera equipment.
As for play back singers - Pop artists should take over them.
They need to bring in professional dance directors to train up our existing choreographers - this will stop all the vulgar dumkas and jumkas done by our female actresses.
They need to hire out top pakistani dress designers to give the industry a brand new and fashionable look.
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
^^ Aside from you two, the silence is indeed deafening. But when it comes to criticising, everyone has something to complain about. The traditional Pak approach, I guess?
I don't think the people from the drama "industry" have the calibre that cinema requires. I've seen the film Rauf Khaled [of Angaar Waadi fame] made, have heard lots of bad things about the stuff that Burney guy made, but then his dramas were pretty hopeless too.
The best source of directorial talent has to come from the music video scene. Those guys are just so talented, and directors such as Saqib Malik [who directed Fuzon's Khamaaj] have long stated that all they require is some financial backing i.e some producer. And those are hard to come by given the low success rate cinema offers.
But then, even if these guys direct a film, what should it be like such that it reflects are local values? Nudity and the level of physical intimacy would definitely be an issue. Scripts will count to, but what kind of stories should we have?
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
I won't comment on the acting or storylines, as I'm not familiar with those, but one thing I always found odd about Pakistani entertainment is the fashion/makeup of the actreses. When I get a glimpse of the dramas my mother is watching, they show women who supposedly live in the villages, you know simple, kuriyan wearing makeup as if they're going to a shaadi...i dunno that just seemed weird to me..
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
well know all telented film makers are making films, talented music video directors saqib malik and jami are making films, and there is quite alot more.
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
Well Iāve heard nothing so far about the films the directors are making. But then, they could be in the pipeline because our media has a tendency to ignore local happenings.
Iām really looking forward to Mubasher Lucmanās Pehla Pehla Pyaar. The film seems to have all it takes for a āhitā, though the unknown hero [who acted really badly in his earlier outing, Pyaar Hi Pyaar Mein] could be a negative factor. It will be interesting to watch how the masses react to this film when it hits the theatresā¦
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
Pakistani cinema should stop calling itself Lollywood to start with... That name just sounds sleezy and dirty now.. Plus its uninspired and ripped off.
Second, Films have to be more relevent to Pakistanis. No lame love stories, no more musicals, or far fewer musicals then before, stuff wich has nothing to do with our society. I would rather have films that represent Pakistani people. Stories about the struggles of Pakistanis in cities and villages aswell. Movies which deal with our problems. Movies that depict the joys of Pakistan and the problems. We dont need big budgets, we only need good quality story line and acting that speak to the people.
Then its up to the govt to promote such films, or facilitate them by making it easier to open up cinemas, and promoting this brand of sophisticated film to the Middle and lower middle classes..
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
Yeah, its totally fake⦠Takes away from the story immensly.
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
Show some good pictures...how about that?
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
Weāev had enough cinema focused on āproblemsā. Salaakhain (2004) is a very recent example. Why not something positive, something inspiring, something which gives HOPE?
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
wat are you talking about, ppp stars ali tapish, and its his debut film.
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
firstly i think they need to be decent, cut all those cheap dances and cheap dressing
they should make films on all types of issues that are pertinent to pakistani society & cater to all types of pakistanis, and reflect our society, they can make all types of films, comedy, love stories, social issues, action, fiction, horror so on..im not going to say k make only one type of film...
there is lots of talent in pakistan in all fields of art, and there's no need to mimic indian or american movie industry, we need to be original and proud of our own ideas and abilities
less show sha, more substance is what we need
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
Irem baaji, I wholly agree with you. We definitely need something which we can call our own. And for that we have to get rid of the trashy Bollywood hangover for once.
Suhaib The person you are talking about has acted earlier in the film I mentioned where he was given the filmi name 'Ashar' or something along those lines. Pehla Pehla Pyaar is not his debut.
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
I would like pak cinema to not suck so much. Make some movies that an average joe can relate to. High production value won't hurt either. A fresh set of minds behind the camera will be appreciated aswell. Honestly, syed noor and other such directors have overstayed their welcome. I don't even know why any of them didn't go broke after making their first movie. The main attraction of a movie should be the movie itself, not the air conditioning of the cinema hall.
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
Haan definently, I mean, point is to make films thatare relevant to Pakistani society, and can be somehting they can relate to. The cinema should be a binding force, it cant do that unless it depicts Pakistan. Right now, its just repackged Hindi film stuff, which has nothing to do with reality..
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
The Govt has to do more to promote such films... Perhaps having more film festivals all across the country, as well as making it easier for cinema people to run their bussines'. Right now Producers only want to make a fast buck by splashing women and violence all over the place. They cater to the working class slob. If the govt makes the industry more competative by opening it up to bigger more sophisticated crowds we may get better quality then..
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
you are probly thinking of someone else.
ali tapish is a former cricket player who get injured and had to stop playing cricket so he started modeling, now this is his first film PPP, it also mentions everywere that this is his debut. and the film which you said phpm stared another actor.
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
This is so trivial, but go check this out:
(The link)](www.shemag.com.pk/newsite/2002/dec/feature_6.html)
It says in the site, on* Pehla Pehla Pyaar*
āā¦the cast includes Ali Tabish (remember the tall guy in Pyar hi Pyar Mein?), Zara Sheikh and Nadeemā¦ā
They are trying to promote Pehla Pehla Pyaar as the guyās debut coz it bombed and he was panned for his performance⦠I thought it was common sense coz the guys in the two movies canāt be identical twinsā¦
Re: Pak cinema: What would YOU want it to be like?
but i saw phpm and it didnt have him in it, heres the review of the film http://pakistani_films.tripod.com/pyaar_hi_pyaar_mein.htm they guy does look like him alot thought but its someone else
