**LAHORE: Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood on Tuesday took oath as Governor Punjab on Tuesday, DawnNews reported.
**
Chief Justice Lahore High Court Umar Ata Bandial administered the oath to Mahmood.
After his swearing in as the provincial governor, Mahmood said his appointment would lead to improvement in the Punjab’s situation.
He added that his first priority would be to work for the betterment and welfare of the people.
Mahmood said his appointment as governor was “not the result of backdoor diplomacy”.
Earlier last week, President Asif Ali Zardari had offered the post of Punjab governor to Mahmood, formerly the provincial president of the Pakistan Muslim League – Functional, and the offer had been accepted.
“President Zardari today offered me Punjab governorship which I have accepted,” Mahmood told Dawn at the time.
**A source told Dawn, President Zardari wanted a man like Mahmood in Punjab because of his ‘good relations’ with PML-N leaders.
**
Mahmood replaced Sardar Latif Khosa who had been appointed Punjab governor on January 13, 2011.
Re: Paish e khidmat hay Noora Kushti ka Shandaar Namoona
If anyone had any doubt before, Zardari is not even trying to hide his intentions anymore.
Clear cut Noora kushti, Imran kept saying for months and people didn't understand. Now anchors openly admitting Imran was right all along that it's all topi drama by PPP-PMLN :)

LOL!
I am truly surprised at this revelations. First they appoint wattoo for punjab who supposedly failed miserably in by elections. And then Gilani gets his cousin in as governor. with PML-N’s consent. Strange times

I dont think the other parties would and should agree on a partisan care taker set up.
Other parties, or other 'party'? Seems like PTI is the lone holdout, and the rest of the gang is teaming up to make a grand alliance. Ishratul Ibaad of MQM was handed a piece of metal yesterday, previously revered as Nishan-e-Pakistan, by Asif Zardari, for his efforts in increasing the body count in Karachi on a daily basis. ANP has gained brownie points after Bilour's death. PML-Q was bribed with vice premier post. And Nawaz league is an old sparring partner in this noora kushti.
Issue is, all these parties have been either in the govt, or been a part of some govt in the present or past. And that has given all of them access to deep dark secrets of each others. These secrets are enough to blackmail each other into submission and are forced to work together because of the threat of mutually assured destruction.
