how is that for a mehndi-dressup theme?? you can dress up as flashy, and over-done as you want (it’s part of a theme after all)
i think it’s a lot of fun, inspired by some of the mehndi/dholki i attended here in america, where the girls love dressing up in lehnga, ghara, jhumkay, teeka everything, because we hardly get any desi-formal events.
what do you ladies think??
P.S. i am not thinking this theme for my own wedding, i don’t even think i will be having a mehndi i just had this idea in my mind for my friend’s mehndi last year, and i thought about sharing it here.
I think as long as the bride is happy and comfortable with what she is wearing then it shouldnot be a problem. because a lot will like her look and some wont...she cant make everyone happy so she should listen to her heart. if the loud colours etc arenot bothering her then she should opt for it.

I would say it's something better off used for an intimate dholki rather than a mehdni. Less chance of anyone getting offended and then u cam be more
comfortable going all out and being silly.
my cousin recently had his nikah in pakistan and they had 3 different days of dholkis before that. and one of them were kind of what you are referring to but it was called "punjabi dholki" and it turned out really nice the clothes were a bit flashy and stuff but it all fit in just right and then for the other two dholkis they had red for one day and pink/black theme for the other. so ya i think change the name from paindu to something else like "punjabi" perhaps?

so basically punjabi culture is paindo....
I agree with many ppl here, something paindo for you might be classy for someone else and something classy for you might be paindo for you.
oh yea, lets not forget we must all always walk in in HSY's and nomi ansaris and boast about them, anything that doesnt make us look like clones is "paindu"

ak12, you might want to rephrase that because it sounds like you're saying that flashy themes are synonymous with punjabi themes. You probably didn't mean that but so I just wanted to point that out. :)

tsk tsk! ppl are sooo touch-y... well a lot of the province of panjab is rural areas.... i think thats why the poster suggested a "panjabi" theme... ....
as for the OPs question ...i think its a great idea...go for it
