Over Rated Cricketers ?

I really love the guy. ;)

Umair Shewag is over rated because he has not lived upto his expectations or his potential. He has underperformed at international level IMO.
[/QUOTE]

I thought he underperformed in the world cup but he has already scored 5 centuries and he has only played like 60 matches, that shows talent.

Matthew Hayden is everything but over rated, probably the best batsman in the world along with Ponting and Sachin.

How is Shoaib Akhtar over rated? To me, he is one of the most exciting and entertaining players currently. He has the potential to rip through any batting line up anytime, anywhere. Just because he’s had 2 or 3 bad matches this year, doesn’t mean he’s over rated. He’s truly a match winner.

Agarkar & Youhana.

Can someone please tell me how is Youhana over rated, people are just naming names without even thinking about it.
Just because he is going through a bad patch doesn't mean you can call him over rated.

Shoiab Akhtar
Michael Vaughn (in ODI’s)

Why r u guys putting Afridi’s, Youhana’s and Anderson’s name here :konfused: You guys are messed in the head.

Bhai, folks are mentioning their **personal
* opinions. You have your own. Iss mein itna naraaz honay wali kiya baat hai?

Yasir bhai everyone has its own views and somemight think the same thing about your choices. So chill.

I say it because how many times Youhana has proved what one expects from him.He lifts a ball in the air and gets out and after 2 tournaments he scores teh higehest runs and specially against the like of Zimb. and same is the case with Younis Khan.

Jason Gillespie--- Very unlucky cricketer but defintely gets more praise than he actually deserves.

Ganguly-- Seriously handicapped on short stuff.

Jayawrdene-- Dubbed as yougn Desilva, seriuos choker on the field. Yes he scored a double hundred against indians in the test but that too speaks for itself.

whoa, good call. how could I forget him.

McGrath also makes my list. I'm absolutely disgusted to see him ranked as one of the all-time great fast bowlers. He's an ordinary medium pacer who happens to be very accurate. The rest he owes to batsmen.

Saby bhai, how is Jason Gillesspie over rated?

Sambrillian bhai, you sometime amaze me with your cricketing knowledge.
Are you ok?

I have a feeling that this thread will deteriorate pretty soon if I keep replying so this is my last post.

Yes, I think Glenn McGrath is overrated but that is just me. I like aggressive players. For example, even in ODIs I'd take Lara over Bevan any day. Bevan might be more consistent but Lara is a genius when he gets going. Same for bowling, I like bowlers who try to bowl batsmen out rather than wait for them to get out. Great bowlers are those who do wait for the batsman to make mistakes but also are capable of performing miracles when needed to.

Glenn McGrath has been proved to be extremely ordinary when the batsmen refuse to take bait. NZ humbled him quite well, there were calls for his retirement from Australian experts if I recall correctly. If five more Glenn McGraths start playing international ccricket and start bowling the same line outside of off, cricket will die a pretty slow and painful death.

I will quote Sambs here " He hasnt even taken 200 wickets in both forms of cricket " and yet Australian commentators compare him with the Australian greats.

I think Tendulakr is also over-rated.
For God sake that guy has played one million ODIS and scored only 32 centuries.

Meri Marzi ;)

Well everyone compared Basit Ali to Miandad or Sehwag to Tendulkar, he has (without any doubts) been one of the best bowlers in the world for the past WC, his bowling against India and Centurion was amazing. Once again his great bowling talent is overshadowed by the likes of Lee, McGrath, Warne being around him.

grow up man....

shoaib may be an "excellent talented player", but whats the use of such excellency or talent that fails 90% of the time...we dont need a bowler who is a match winner in 1 out of 10 matchs (bowling 16 for 6 in 7 overs in one match and gets 50+ in other matches with 1 or 2 wickets)....

same goes for afridi.....he is not a batsman at all...if we talk abt his bowling, he can get some recognition for it, but definitely not for batting....again the same logic applies over here....afridi scoring 100+ in one match but failing to deliver in rest 9 is of no use to us...i would suggest hafeez socring 40 each in 8 of the 10 matches is better than afridi...

i don't know how you guys judge players cricket! Shoaib, to me is an excellent talented bowler... yes he gets hit alot but TRUST me when it comes to crowd entertainment.. Shoaib delivers it.. he an exciting bowler to watch!...

Afridi, another product of 1day - built for crowd's entertainment .. he was originally selected as a bowler NOT an ALLROUNDER! and his bowling has worked out couple of time for Pakistan.

In my opinion all of the players, in every single team have talents that got them there on the first place. I admire cricket from all of them.

I agree wholeheartedly with all the arguments against Glen McGrath and his so-called greatness.

Basit Ali is surely in the category os under achievers too.

Someone also mentioned the name Daryl Tuffey. I think he can only bowl decent spells under certain conditions.

I agree with ** Michael Vaughan ** too. He is compact and everything but just scoring heavily against Aussies in Oz doesn't make you great.

Imran Nazir is another one who hasnt done justice to the talent given to him (atleast so far he hasnt!).
