^ True.
I was surprised that music maestro AR Rehman's name stood for Allah Rakha Rehman.
In Pakistan, this name is popular only among the 'dehaati' Punjabis like DMD and Sheeda Pistol. :p

Bano Qudsia. Though her real name is Qudsia Bano.
From Bano I remember there used to be a trend of naming girls on the names of novel's heroine. Novels written by Razia Butt gave name to girls like Saiqa, Noreen, Shabana, Aneela, Beena, Naila, Najiya, Sabeen. Most of these names have now become outdated.
Haseena Moin also used to give different names to the heroines of her dramas like Sana, Zara, San'iya, Zoya, Zobariya, etc. still common
Re: Outdated / Out of Fashion names

Re: Outdated / Out of Fashion names
Baaii bahen, begum, gaane waali [Jaddan Baaii] yaa sarsaam ko kahte haiN…baaii kaa lafz lagaa dene se profession bhii ban jaataa hai jaise Samal-baaii.

Bi = short for BIBI = lady, older sister
Baaii = begum, bahen, gaane waali, sarsaam**
Re: Outdated / Out of Fashion names
What is sarsaam ?
I understand sarsaam as 'sardi lag jaana' in Punjabi.
Who is/was Samal-baaii ?

I am happy that the gender neutral names are going out of fashion for guys. Names like Shaheen, Musarrat, Tasneem and such sound good on girls than on boys

hmmm...urdu meN likhaa hotaa to aasaanii hotii samajhne meN...it sounds like a professio and often people of that profession are called by their profession, like:
kumhaar
lohaar
chamaar
in this case Bhooneriya probably means a girl belonging to the "Bhunjwaa" profession/zaat...people who roast rice to make laaii [rice-crispies] or chanaa for bhune chane etc.
