268 rape cases reported, 123 committed suicide! So almost half of the rape victims commit suicide! Horrific! What needs to be done here? And what does the minister mean when he says ‘due to Karo Kari no rape case was reported from the areas having tribal background’!!. Looks like the state govt. is helpless before tribes.
KARACHI: Sindh Assembly was informed that 268 rape cases were reported in the province in the year 2004 and most of the criminals involved in this crime have been arrested and charge-sheeted in various courts of law.
Provincial Minister for Planning and Development Shoaib Bukhari informed this to the house during question-answer session on behalf of Home Minister Rauf Siddiqi who was absent.
According to the minister’s written reply, 108 rape cases were reported in Karachi, 36 in Hyderabad, eight in Dadu, 11 in Badin, two in Thatta, 13 in Mirpurkhas, three in Umerkot, 20 in Sanghar, four in Tharparkar, 10 in Sukkur, four in Nawabshah, nine in Ghotki, six in Khairpur and 29 in Larkana districts. The house was informed that no such case was reported from Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Naushero Feroze, Kashmore and Jacobabad.
In a supplementary question, the minister apprised that due to Karo Kari no rape case was reported from the areas having tribal background.

Education is the most important way in which this situation can be helped. also empowerment of women and setting up support organizations for women in small towns to have a ring of support in order to discourage suicide after rape and to encourage speaking out about the crime. the men in society need education that must begin at home and continue at school about what respect for a woman really means. they need to be taught that a woman **is to be respected and **not some piece of cloth.

in my world the punishment would be. Tie the man with rope strip naked and give a knife to a girl he raped. Now she can chop off anything she wants. If she cant goverment will chop off 1 ball and if he does it again 2nd and if he is a real retard does it again he will lose the final part... NOW he cant do a dang thing.

Islam give all the right ways to handle this thing and if some one is get away with it due to some powers(politics), he will get the deserve punishment hereafter , and it maybe it can happen to his coming generation.....we all need to do towba ......May Allah forgive us for our shortcomings.

Dear , i didnot say that do not punish them , first of all islamic laws are there and then there are country’s law but the ppl are suggesting rubbish things by taking name of private parts of human…is that right thing ?

if they were really serious, we would not have the karo kari or the hudood ordinance stuff going around

Shweety, I have haerd enough and believe you me, you dont want to hear half of it, so I will suggest that we dont go there :).
Anyway, carry on this inane discussion of what should be done to the rapists...when the solution is staring you in the face...Death...that is the only cure for the rapists and sex offenders, there is no way around it.
