Hahahahahaha
Look what I found, stuck on the fridge, held in place with flowery magnets
Looks like my 8 yr old, 2nd grader, has found a job
this is a list of his daily job assignments and duties that he prepared himself, and the AGREED salary, that he negotiated with his mom
I told her she could be apprehended for Child labor
Nahh
Seriously - I think its great, they learn the value of money and also develop a sense of responsibility.
I am only interested in the TEA part, which is free and I dont have to pay
first there is almost no money involved besides its time restricted too
enjoy your free tea unckeeel - but keep in mind, there can be something fishy in it too
Deep down inside I dont feel good doing it, maybe because of my own upbringing and memories from my own childhood. Kids of this age were treated as royalty, the smallest nakhra and wish was taken care of, and the elders used to say "Abhi inn ki umar hay, zidd karnay ki, khailany koodnay ki, jab waqt aiey gaa tu subb seekh jaien gay"
Kids should be treated as kids...
There is a age and time to learn everything and somehow I cant swallow the idea of a lil 8 year old mopping floors and taking care of garbage to earn a few lousy cents.
It could be part of a daily routine, a part of discipline that they need to be taught, but not something related to EARNING and making him feel he has to do all that, to get money so he could buy candy and stuff.

This is why we - the people from that part of world- perhaps miss the childhood most....
and sooner or later, we will be needing STRONG people.. that can LEAD, that can EARN their ways, that are SELF-MADE, not inherited stuff from their parents..
if u feel bad about mopping floors (i dont feel debating THAT in this thread), no problem, he can do other stuff like feeding daisy, helping his mom around the house, checking this OFF grocery list while u shop on weekends (if no list, thats overtime pay:D, he has to MAKE list and check-it-off as u guys go isle2isle), inventory tracking of the fridge,
.. idea is not pocket money, but salary... oh well, as u brought upbringing, cant really say more..
sure its a small thing as a kid's list today, but in future, this is sign of a self-made leader who wasnt born, but polished..
awwwww mashallah this made me laugh out loud! the list and the stuff to do and the price for each job. oh man!
btw…the price range isn’t that bad can i hire him for an hour or two? :halo: cookies and chocolate milk and anything he wants is guaranteed can you send over daisy too?

My 7 year old hasn’t figured this act of kindness yet…
She is quite good at pretending to be mommy though…
Kids are so generous…MashAllah!
