Vegetable and rajma biryani
Dum keema (omit )
Zeera aaloo
Chicken roast
Anaar added to kachumbar salad - yummy

Desserts
Basboosa
Anaar trifle

Re: Our Daawat Tables-MENU IDEAS

^^Interesting.I have never heard of rajma biryani.I have made chick peas biryani a few times, esp on dawat when there are a few meat items on the menu.
Also how was the anaar trifle? What other layers did it have?Sounds interesting..!

Re: Our Daawat Tables-MENU IDEAS

I’m also curious about basboosa and anar trifle. more info please…x

Re: Our Daawat Tables-MENU IDEAS

If im not wrong. Its something made out of samolina

Yes Afayiz , basboosa is made of semolina. I will have to get recipe of anaar trifle but it is on the tangy and less sweet side .
Chipsy, the biryani was actually pretty good. Just make biryani masala , add frozen veggies and boiled rajma to the masala. You.could even use water of boiled rajma in the biryani masala . Layer as usual and give dumm.

Re: Our Daawat Tables-MENU IDEAS

I’ve made veggie biryani before, so will try adding rajmah next time. It sounds yummy.

Re: Our Daawat Tables-MENU IDEAS

Biryani for me is only meat :chai:, others are pulao or khichri

Afayiz to each their own. I think this thread needs cleaning up. Let’s keep this thread strictly for menus and not for commenting on personal likes and dislikes

Another menu idea from a dinner we went to.
Biryani
Chicken salan
Kebab masala
Fried fish
Salad.
There was no raita but I would definitely add raita
Dessert
Gajar halwa
Trifle

Re: Our Daawat Tables-MENU IDEAS

I am not sure if I can post this here or not but can anyone please share a vegetarian menu for dawat? so far I can only think of lentil soup, chick peas salan but what else?

Re: Our Daawat Tables-MENU IDEAS

Proper full course davat?

Using the same principle as for a normal davat:

**1-2 appetizers

**1. Mini veggie samosas/matar ke kachoris
2. Dahi barray
3. Hari matar ki chaat
4. Cholay chaat
5. Bhel puri

Main course

Kebab

Aloo ke kebab (fill them with masalaydaar peas - these are yum!)

Salan/Daal

You’ve got lentils, but you could also have shahi paneer instead (it’s a salan-y type dish)
Nauratan korma

Additional Mains - tons of options!

Jackfruit/Khattal ki tarkari - this one is delicious and it’s very meaty.
Matar or saag paneer
Vegetable jalfrezi
Bagharay baingan
Stuffed bell/shimla peppers (fill it with ricotta or paneer)
Parval

^ These are some of the fancy vegetable options, but tons of other tarkaris to choose from

Shaljum, palak, baingan, tooray - alone or with potatoes.

Rice - any one of the following

Matar pilau
Vegetable biryaani
Zaafrani rice (goes very well with the shahi paneer)

Add raita, naan, salad and dessert and you’re done!
