Organizing Photos

I’m planning on organizing the piles and piles of pictures we have. Soon. I hope. I just don’t know how to start. I don’t have tons of albums in which i can put all the pics. So got any tips how to do it?

I was thinking maybe get small boxes and put the pictures in them? But it would end up being the same thing if they aren’t in some packet or whatever so they stay in order. =/ You know how you get pics in Pakistan if you get them printed. Yeah…something like that.

Re: Organizing Photos

Who print pix? Scan 'em and then burn the originals ... problemo solved!

Re: Organizing Photos

P.S: Not sure what you are talking about "have them printed in pak". They are printed on glossy special paper. If so - Put them in proper albums - you want to save them from humidity and direct light as much as you can.

Re: Organizing Photos

If you want them forever, scan them and put them on CD’s … get going , you got loads to do :cb:

Re: Organizing Photos

ohhhh i forgot to add , my mom kept pics from our childhood and she just kept the albums carefully packed in boxes , the pics are slowly turning yellow ... no matter how much you try to protect paper pics , they dont remain the same for a long time ..

Re: Organizing Photos

butnothing like printed pics. i was just looking at some old ones and it was so much nicer than having them on my compootur

Re: Organizing Photos

you could make a scrap book. those are fun!

like u said, buy a whole bunch of albums...but nice ones..with nice black leather covers (so you can store them in a bookcase).

Re: Organizing Photos

Moms in a habit of taking the photos out regularly every few months ... I thought she just does it to enjoy them , but actually she said , she does it to protect the photos from sticking with each other and sometimes the album itself can stick to the photo and spoil it ...

Re: Organizing Photos

Khumar, I found out that the old shoe box technique is the best to store pics. You just cant get too fancy when it comes to storing tons and tons of pics.

Re: Organizing Photos

print photos on archival paper. photos and old negatives should be stored in acid-free albums or boxes (just check the label- it should say acid-free on it).
these wont let your photos fade for at least a 100 years.

photos go yellow and or stick if not stored in acid-free containers and if they are not kept away from light and moisture.
