Organizing makeup

How do you makeup junkies organize your makeup!?! I cant leave mine on a pretty little display but right now having everything in a makeup traincase is driving me nuts!!! I seriously need some clever storage ideas. Thanks

Re: Organizing makeup

I wonder if maybe my penchant for disorganization is genetic. I think that even if I were to get special trays and compartments for my makeup it'd still be messy. Currently The bulk of my makeup is in my dresser drawer in separate ziploc bags...such as the eyeshadows all in one bag...etc etc. Sowie OP, I am of help. Have you looked into getting those lipstick holder trays where you can store all your lipsticks? Or storage units that are connected and have slidable compartments?

Re: Organizing makeup

I have a couple of acrylic makeup organisers that work quite nicely. I have one on my dressing table, which is smaller and holds my go-to makeup items, rather like this:

The larger one rests on my dresser and holds everything else, like this one:

Re: Organizing makeup

^Is the top one actually yours? I love the Fresh lip balms, they're yummy!!!

Re: Organizing makeup

^Oh no, it's from a beauty blog. It's actually where I got the idea for that type of storage. Mine is a tiny bit bigger than that one.

Re: Organizing makeup

Lol, it's the Fresh lip balm that caught my attention. Try em out if you haven't.

Oohh the acrylic ones are so nice but I can't use them. My makeup needs to be stored away because my two girls will literally paint the town with my makeup.

Rv- I can organize it but less than a week later and BOOM.. I'm standing where I started- Disheveled, Defeated and Disorganized

Re: Organizing makeup

Get some pretty boxes, kinda like the gift box stuff. Put that stuff in there. Put that box in a cabinet or dresser or whatever, and lock that ish down. It just means you won’t be able to see your stuff right away, but it might be safe from your little ones.

OR, do what my mom did, just don’t buy any makeup until your girls hit their teens and actually care about makeup :cb:

Re: Organizing makeup

You should have a look at mirrored drawers. They come in a variety of sizes/number of drawers and look quite pretty on your vanity or makeup table. Something like this:

Re: Organizing makeup

i use something similar to this for my makeup.

Re: Organizing makeup

BTW this might be off topic, but have you thought about getting your girls their own little makeup kit? I know they make lipglosses and little blushes etc for little girls, you could get them that, and they have to be responsible for their own stuff. Hopefully they won't then touch your stuff. Or alternatively you could get drug-store stuff, like NYX or whatever, and pick up a really bright lipstick, a blush, an eyeshadow and a couple of lip glosses, and get them their own makeup caddy.

Re: Organizing makeup

Ahaan, that's me. Which is why I wonder if it's genetic. I could have separate containers for things but it will still be like...organized chaos if that makes sense. :/

Re: Organizing makeup

I’ve got the bottom one.. it’s brilliant..

You could get a lipstick and nail polish organizer and put it in a drawer, alongside other things like hair products, body lotions, etc. Other small everyday usage items can be left on top of the dresser but high enough that your girls don't get access?

Re: Organizing makeup

***Best thing to do is have a major clear out. Since most make up that isn't pro & sometimes even then is rubbish anyway, be it drugstore or high end, take anything old, anything that looks crappy, drys you out, is unusable e.t.c and put it in giant bin bag.
Keep 1 of every best item In 1 or 2 good sized, well made and organised make up bags. Keep your dresser clear for when you use it.

I did it and ended up with only one make up brand, in one make up bag.

never been happier, never looked better.

Best of luck ;)

P.s: Being a junkie is the problem!***

Organizing makeup

I'll post a picture of what I used recently to clean up my dresser once I get home tonight but I still find myself unorganized only because all of my everyday makeup and brushes sometimes travel with me and that's what gets me unorganized. I also can't seem to keep it together, it's takes one party and my room is a mess. (Shudders)

Re: Organizing makeup

Pretty neat stuff

some.of.it is organizng, most of it, for me, is getting the stuff and putting it bk in ita place when rushijg to get ready.

so now i take out all the things i need, put them in oje place and put the rest bk. im relaxed and there is no rush. ojce ik done getting ready, i keep it out, and put it away once im bk.

the teick is, to take out and put bk when we arent rushed.

for organizing, its in my drawer, organized in ikea organizers. one has lip stuff, one has eye stuff, blushes in anither, etc etc.

works best for me! the plastic make up organizers didnt work for me cuz i needed like... atleast 10 to hold all my stuff. aint no one got room for that. plus... its SO hard.cleaning it of dust. jesus.

Re: Organizing makeup

I hardle throw any old makeup away, I dont use it but i refuse to throw it away!!! At some point, it will be discontinued but I will forever have it. I know it makes no sense but in my head it does. O do need to dejunk but ummm  dekhte hain.

Khwati- its the act of putting things back where they belong that I cannot wrap my mind around. In theory it is so doable but when it comes to doing it, I suck at it.
