hey there,

just was wondering if anyone knew what the islamic perspective was on organ donation? for example if you die in an accident, would you be able to donate your organs to someone else who could use them - kidneys, heart, lungs…?

what do you guys think about organ donation?

There's more than one Islamic perspective on this ... you get different Islamic scholars holding different viewpoints on this issue.

I wanted to become one, but my family was against it...i think perhaps for religious reasons, though i'm not sure.

would you happen to know what the most common viewpoint is..? or the one that is held my the majority of scholars?

Is it halal ?

but you never did really ask them why the opposed it? just curious to know ..that’s all.

i think that it’s a good idea. as long as they’re not tearing you apart for scientific purposes, but if your kidney could help save someone’s life..then why not?

there 's nuthin related against the donation of organs in Quran or its teachings. My parents didnt want me to donate ma organs either, but i m still gonna go for it. I believe if there is no use of um after ma death to me than y not help a needy.
P.S: I only wana donate ma organs to a Muslim.

I'm not saying that i'm going to sell my organs. That would be for the purpose of making money while you're still alive. I'm talking about when you have died, and donating your organs to help others. When you donate blood, that's not selling it - you're helping out somenoe in need, and that's acceptable.

Theres only one oppnion and its harraam once the soul has left the body no longer belongs to anyone but allah so it should be buerried a.s.a.p and never messed wid again unless need to be

Then when you need an organ to save your own life, don't be a hypocrite and accept an organ from a non-Muslim. Let that organ save the life of a more caring, tolerant person.

^ If i dont wana donate it to a non-muslim i m certainly not gonna accept one from either. Though there is nuthin wrong with giving it to a non-muslim but i would just rather give it to a muslim. I think our Muslim countries need more donors than the other one.
Anyway let me rewrite that phrase, wht i meant was
i would prefer to donate it to Muslims

Would you put that on your donor card? In the US anyway, the donor system isn't like a Pakistani passport where you must state your religion. Generally the thought is to save a life - not a white life, female life, Christian life, elderly life or any other prerequisite. It kinda takes away from the altruistic purpose that donating organs is supposed to achieve.

^ Well thats y it says i dont wana donate organs, dont worry i got it all planned out. Its just sumthin that has to do with ma own believe. Btw, Do pepz have to write their religion in Paki passport for real?

musicmaniac ..i kinda agree with seminole on this on. how can you choose where your organs will be given? what if it's a non-muslim that needs it more than a muslim. i dunno, i'm thinking that we're all human when it comes right down to it.

if i need a blood transfusion or organ transplant, i'm not gonna ask them where it came from before they put it in me. it's a matter of life or death..

well.... for those who dont know.. my mom had a heart tranplantation surgury last tuesday..
and this is exactly what i was thinking.... is it halaal on my mom to accept someone's heart as her own?.. and is it permissible to do so according to islam.. if i wanna donate some specific organs to others?

:wave: hi. i’d like to join into this issue.

when i was getting my driver’s license…i put ‘undecided’ on it.

they only way a hospital can make use of your organs is when you die on life support. after you’ve been pronounced dead for a while, your organs cant be used. im not sure of the time span on that.

so, :naooz: if i die in that sort of a situation, it’ll be up to my family to decide what to do.

im affirmative on it myself, after having done enough thinking. the body is not ours, it was made for our soul by God. we cant sell out our organs. but to save a life is to save all of humanity. and while you can help it…why wont you give another person a chance at life?

i’m thinking that it should be okay..it did help your mom to live, right? i dunno..that’s why i posted this thread in the first place..to figure out what was right.
