Allah:swt: commands us following in Surah Al-An’am [6]
118. Eat of that over which the name of Allah hath been mentioned, if ye are believers in His revelations.
119. How should ye not eat of that over which the name of Allah hath been mentioned, when He hath explained unto you that which is forbidden unto you unless ye are compelled thereto. But lo! many are led astray by their own lusts through ignorance. Lo! thy Lord, He is Best Aware of the transgressors.
120. Forsake the outwardness of sin and the inwardness thereof. Lo! those who garner sin will be awarded that which they have earned.
121. And eat not of that whereon Allah’s name hath not been mentioned, for lo! it is abomination. Lo! the devils do inspire their minions to dispute with you. But if ye obey them, ye will be in truth idolaters.
I think I am not doing a good job explaining I understand the haram and hala. The original question was about Niyyat. You go there to eat a vegi sandwich, not to enjoy the touch of chicken. The point is: You are eating vegitables, NOT chicken.
death is a completely different case.
Waisay meat slaughtered by the people of book (Jews and Christians) is also considered halal, according to this reference.
Everyone has their own thinking. You think it’s not a big deal but it’s a big deal for me (slowing others down) when instead of troubling others, you can bring your own lunch from home if you want to be so precautious.
The above fatwah is Islamic to the best of my knowledge and comes from authentic sources as well, and is the position taken by the scholars of Hanbali school of thought. According to Imam Abu Hanifa:rehm: and the ahaadeeth he has cited, slaughter by people of the book is only Halaal if that is done according to the Book given to them. This is the stance that Shaikh Yusuf Ludhiyaanvi:rehm: also took. According to the another Hanafi source, Mufti-e-Azam Pakistan Shaikh Taqi Usmaani, not all slaughter by people of the book is halaal. For example, the only zabeeha of people of the book that is according to the Islamic Sharia is from the orthodox jewish because they take the name of ALLAH:swt: at every animal before slaughtering it.
Having said that, none of the above are wrong for each of them takes their guidance from Quran and Ahaadeeth… Quran is very straight telling what to eat and what to not. Quran also tells us that slaughter by people of the book is halaal. It is the interpretation by two different Fiqh based on different ahaadeeth which is the better explanation.
I understand it as: to Follow what your heart understands to be the much accurate but do not follow your desires.
Such things do not make one non-muslim and Allah:swt: knows best.
You said: Islam is simple. (which is correct) Then you used THAT statement to defend yourself? Thats sad. YOU DONT use Islam to suit YOUR needs.
Shikra, Islam is simple until you get into making it hard for yourself.
There are probably TEN posts explaining WHY you should avoid eating DOUBTFUL food.
At the end of the day, its your own a'amaal and you have been given the gift of choosing between right and wrong.
if i was in the situation u have mentioned , i'd rather not ask those ppl to wash and wear gloves , and rest of ppl wait for food.
bcz islam teaches us to care about others too :)
I'd just avoid that resturant n go to some other place where all is halal. Infact I have been through that situation.
The chef was preparing omelette with different alternatives (mushroom , cheese, bacon strips)
although i could have asked him to prepare a mushroom omelette for me i chose not to eat the omelette cooked in the same pan n ate butter with bread instead,so it is not so difficult to avoid anything and find alternatives for it ..
:)
^ Exactly. Courtsey. If you wanna be so precautious, don’t eat outside and make other people’s lives difficult just because you decide to be picky.
Bizz merey bhai, aankhen khol aur meri post ko parh. I am not using Islam to defend my wrong actions. I know Muslims are not allowed to eat MEAT not slaughtered by Muslims. You people are driving this conversation to a completely opposite end. I am talking about ABC and you all are talking about 123.
Islam is easy and simple, we both agree on that. Now, we are talking about EATING A VEGITABLE SANDWICH…N.O.T a meat sandwich. Just because a utencil or glove that has touched the non-slaughtered meat is touching your HALAL VEGITABLE SANDWICH, that does NOT make your HALAL VEGITABLE SANDWICH a haram sandwich. In other words, you are going to eat a HALAL VEGITABLE SANDWICH with the intention of avoiding meat…NOT because you want to taste the meat by eating a vegitable sandwich.
I hope I am clear now? Take all the precautions you (in general) want but don’t put others in a hard time just because YOU (in general) decide to be picky. If you are so concerned about the knife touching your halal stuff, then don’t eat there
Anyway, everyone is turning this conversation to wherever they want and we are on completely 2 seperate issues here (Me talking about eating a vegi sandwich touched by a knife that just touched the meat…and everyone else talking about MEAT while forget the vegi sandwich). As Anwaar Qureshi said and I’ve said it too (about intentions): Follow what your heart understands to be the much accurate.
Ofcourse that doesn’t mean you can walk around naked or flirt with girls in Masjid instead of praying just because your heart thinks it’s right. That’s another issue and I don’t want to get into any further discussions. I will just end it here: If you are so concerned, don’t eat outside and make other people’s lives miserable. Don’t fulfill your desires at cost of other people’s time because as BB said, Islam teaches you to be considerate of others as well
i happen to live in a place with almost no Pakistani and only a small number of muslims. I see other people doing this all the time. yes its inconvenient but your generalization that “only muslims particularly Pakistani’s do it” is flawed…
your complaint about making other people wait is valid … i dont like to wait..
ok the conference example u gave …well my chacha had to go to germany for a meeting & had to stay there for 4 days …he managed on fruits…
i can’t tell u to live all ur life on fruits (though it’l be healthy)
& i never had to experience this sort of a problem so can’t comment…
all i have to do here is ask if the chicken/ meat is local or from outside …& then i can order from any restaurant 'cause most use halaal meat/chicken here…
but i do no one thing if ur committed enough u’l find a solution… & its better to ask a maulaana or someone who has quite good knowledge of relegion such things …not here on gs…'cause we’re not knowledgeable enough…or else we wudn’t be wasting our time here…
& if ur hungry right now eat this icecream for the time being:shireen:
