Opinions please...

You have your baat pakki/engagement ceremony planned, but your distant relative passes away around the same time. Family politics, you all hated each other but since there has been a death. Would it be appropriate to have the ceremony or postpone it? I mean they didn’t give a whatever about you and vice versa and the families were not close. Still would you postpone it?

Re: Opinions please...

How distant? literally and figureatively?

Re: Opinions please...

Well distant as in you live abroad, they are in Pakistan. Also distant as in figuratively. Kitcha kitchi rehti thi.

Re: Opinions please...

Postpone. Decent thing to do.

Re: Opinions please...

dont give a damn n plan the ceremony :D

Re: Opinions please...

I will not postpone.

If it was distant I'd still go ahead but just tone it down..

It depends - if your baat pakki is a casual do and it will not inconvenience anyone to re-schedule, it would be better to postpone. If you've spent a lot of money and have out of town guests attending whose plans cannot be changed, then go ahead. But as someone above said, try to tone it down.

Re: Opinions please...

since there is a death in the family i would suggest to postpone it.

Re: Opinions please...

umm..postpone it i guess..

Re: Opinions please...

Why postpone it? Can you imagine the cost cancelling such events.. Just don't do dance, thumkas on the ceremony but no need to postpone it.

Re: Opinions please...

zindagi mout is not only in ALLAH SWT's hand but also its a part of dunia. there is no point in postponing anything it. in fact do the engagement or nikkah as simple as possible.

Re: Opinions please...

Just tone it down.

Yee rishtey allah na banaeey hotey hain and are there for ever (or till death).

Re: Opinions please...

If the relative is any of your mother's or father's parents, siblings, or siblings children....postpone it that's the only right thing to do

If the relative isn't any of the above the don't

Re: Opinions please...

mourning is only allowed for 3 days so there is nothing wrong in going ahead.

nope i wont postpone... its not easy to reschedule these events when u r living abroad

Yup, go ahead with the ceremony but do it with more saadgi ..

Re: Opinions please...

this is weird........so the poor girl gets to have her ceremony but she is not allowed to really party it up.

is that fair?

and every things what follows do it with sa'adgi.

not like other girl who's mum wanted her girl to not to be so sa'ada after shadi

Re: Opinions please...

They can do a post ceremony party, a month later ..
