I totally love this outfit, and I’m considering having it made for my walima. However my main problem is that i’m wanting to wear off white and/or light colours as i’m already wearing black and red on baraat. So my concern is whether this dress will look good in white/cream? if so what colour should i change the inside jamawar material to? again not wanting something too dark and defoz not the maroon,
Do u think it will look good in the colours suggested? If not can anyone suggest other colours which it would look good in plz
What do u guys think about having the inside material a bright coral?? Or will it kill the elegance of the dress? Also what colour dupatta would go best the same off white cream colour as the dress or the same colour as the material inside e.g Coral?
FarahK i have decided to get the same dress made for my baraat too :) or rather the same side-slit gown thingy. i dont know what would you call it, looks like a gown to me.
and choosing the right color is HARD. there is a picture of a bride in the bridal pics thread, somebody said it was an HSY. i would post the pic if i knew how to.you can look for it in the last 10 to 15 pages i guess. it has an orange gown and a navy/midnight blue inside. its pretty.
Thanks dragonlady, yea i’ve seen that one too, I’m just really confused uurrghhh, I do really like this style of dress, but i’m already going for an open gown style on baraat day only with the slit down the middle, so mum and others have said i should go for something totally different on walima unless it’l all look too similar so my 2nd option is also a design by HSY, and might end up going for that instead as it’s different to my baraat day…
Let me know what u think…
So vote for me plz the 1 i’ve originally posted in this thread with the side slit OR this one? (baring in mind what i’ve said above)…
if the rest of the dress is white/ cream/ beige....i think a really dark color would look great for te inside material..like black or navy blue or deep maroon
but if you want to maintain the elegance of the dress, a light/muted/nude coral as opposed to a bright coral, a nude pink, or skin/dull gold color (this cant be used if the rest of the dress is beige, if rest of dress is beige consider dark colors or a light coral a nude pink or a shade of white would look good) would look better
FarahK are you going for a lehnga with the barat day gown or is it all the way down to the feet like this one? you can definitely go for this one if you are wearing a lehnga on baraat. that would be two different looks.
the other HSY you posted has been done to death in my opinion. there will be no element of surprise there and people will be like ‘oh its THAT HSY dress’.seriously. i would suggest you to not go for it. and if in case you do plan to drop the side slit gown style, then go for something else. that is what i would do.
i am confused about the colors too. i like the coral inner material idea you have in your mind. and since you are getting this made for your walima there are so many nude earthy colors to choose from. like the taupe (for gown) and eggplant (inner material) in this picture.
i think the first dress is way better! that hsy dress is old now and it looks better on the runway than on real brides
the first dress would look great in white/cream with dull gold kaam. the inside jamawar in my opinion would look best in a subdued colour such as light green, light grey or light gold. i would personally choose light grey since i love grey and gold together.. it would look stunning in jamawar!
Ivory and mint for sure. It would look spectacular with dull gold embroidery and maybe small tiny pearls worked into the kaam too. I'd do a mint dupatta.
hmm do u think gold in that jamawar material will look good? And won't it be too dull with just off white and gold all the way and no other colour? Can't go for maroon i'm already wearing maroon on baraat day.
