Re: Operations starting in Punjab?
We all know what naseerullah babar did. Although he was from a military background, but we know he wasn’t in army when he was “acting” in 1993-4. Noon’s history is in front of us.
Sure, military has had an overarching influence on “strategic issues”, but then civilians should resign if they can’t do their job. At the very least, the official dept heads that are supposed to deal with such policies should get out but haram khor of the nineties couldn’t do that either. Phir kaisay loot maar ho gi?
As far as balochistan, military does get credit for COIN. Baloch insurgency has turned on itself and perhaps it is due to Gwadar and CPEC? Gwadar was a brainchild of Musharraf. I know that plans were there from the seventies but he was the one who acted on it. It doesn’t mean that I think that Musharraf did the right thing by absolving Capt. Hammad immediately in the rape case of Dr. Shazia 10 years ago.
I don’t want a military takeover to ever happen again even though things are bad with one province having way too much power in the federal structure and the local govts have no real powers like in the case of Karachi. I rather have political noora kushti be kept up so the system is improved to be fair to everyone in pakistan .
Agree, but the problem is, these noora kushti without indiscriminate checks and balances across the board would not produce any positive results because these politicians want only their version of democracy where they can do whatever they think is right and ofcourse a system where their kids get to take over after they are gone. They would never implemented a system that would initiate a true face of democracy.
