So I know a few people who stop drinking, eating non-zabiha and pretty much all non-halal stuff during Ramadan.
But its ONLY for the month of Ramadan.
How does that make any sense? They have every intention of going back to whatever they were doing as soon as Ramadan is over but they are willing to make the sacrifice during Ramadan.
Is this better than nothing? Is there any logic to this or am I just being mean?

Better than those who keep drinking, eat non zabiha and pretty much all non-halal stuff during Ramadan.
The matter of such people is with Allah and only Allah knows whether their 'sacrifice' in Ramadan is acceptable to Allah or not. But at least this shows that these people DO know that whatever they are doing in non-Ramadan months is haram and unacceptable in Allah's eyes. We don't know, Allah might forgive their previous mistakes just because they quit haraam acts in Ramadan. The rahmat of Allah is unquestionable and is free from any restrictions. If these people refrain from such acts in Ramadan, this shows that there is some hope that these people might come to the right path some time in the future since the knowledge of right and wrong still exists in them.

This shows there is some hope that they will someday go back to right path. Inshallah.
Thats how its supposed to be. I mean what do you expect, just because they aren't better Muslims in other months, you don't want them to even bother becoming one for this blessed month?
I think most of us try to obey the rules of Allah in one way or another. And yes, that includes me and probably most of us on here. I mean, I've cut down on listening to music, watching dramas and I've started reading and trying to acquire more Islamic knowledge. These things I really want to keep up. I think most of us should strive to do this, we should all make Ramadan the turning point of our lives. You know how people have new years resolution, well, I think we should have a Ramadan resolution, but for the whole year and not just restricted to the month.
There are people out there that do things for Ramadan only, but seriously, we should probably concentrate on ourselves more - we might not do the drinking, gambling, etc, but that doesn't mean our 'smaller' sins are any the better. We should all strive to better ourselves, and the impact on others will probably be felt through our doing so.
And also, Allah forgives, so who are we to say anything. The person who prima facie commits the biggest sins out there will probably be the one that ends up in heaven.
better than not doing it. You never know how Allah swt chooses to guide someone to the right path. You never know that someone's heart, even with no intentions of remaining that way, may change because of the righteous action itself.
For example, I started reading namaz because there was a summer competition in my school where we would have to give ourselves a check mark for every salat we prayed and the one with the highest check marks would be the winner. I am a very competitve person and initially started reading namaz because i was like "I am SO winning that!"...needless to say, alhumdulillah, i could never really leave it after that (i have had periods of being extremely lethargic and such but my point is that initially someone's intention may not be the most righteous but you never know).
just like khawateen put dupatta on the head as soon as they hear Aazan, Naat Milaad or Hamd? Does that annoy anyone?
agreed but you can't compare that to 30 days of piety with 335 days of extreme behayayi, drinking doing non-halal stuff..is it ?
Hum se to behtar goray hain ..at least new years eve par resolutions to banate hain :p Why can't we do that in Ramadan ...resolve to refrain from bad stuff in future and not just for 30 days ..at least they can try to and not confine this trial to a certain amount of time
