Only during Ramadan...

Re: Only during Ramadan...

and you would care because......?

I say being a better person 11 months out of the year beats being a moron all year long. It is proof of some semblance of a consience, which can lead to a change of heart one day. If nothing else, they are respecting a sacred month, which unfortunately can't be said for everyone.

Re: Only during Ramadan...

You also keep roza only during Ramzan and not throughout the year.

Re: Only during Ramadan...

I find it odd too. It seems mighty hypocritical to me and in the Quran, hypocrisy is very much looked down on. Someone mentioned respecting the holy month of Ramadan, but if a person can do that, then why not also respect Allah and submit to him fully?

Re: Only during Ramadan...

^How do you know you are submitting to Allah swt fully? (not you, i mean 'all of us' in general)

None of us are sure of our deeds. In addition, we all differ in our levels of faith. In addition, some of us are weaker than others.

My point is if you see someone doing the slightest bit of good, encourage it. don't question why they are doing this, why they are doing that etc..

and none of us can call another a hypocrite. Only Allah swt knows what lies in our hearts.

very simply, let's say I pray everyday 5 times a day but like a robot, while someone else prays only during ramadan but with all the focus and all his/her heart & soul. How am I suppose to make an assumption about that person?

Re: Only during Ramadan...

^ Right. There's always something you can do to be a better Muslim. More generosity, more kindness, more worship, more prayer, more Quran reading, more willpower, more sacrifice, etc etc etc.

Sure if you know something is wrong, and you persistently do it, there will be consequences for that. Be we all have these kinds of issues. Some are explicit and obvious, some are more nuanced.

Re: Only during Ramadan...

People can fill in the blank anything here....!!

A typical rhetoric by some desis. ;)

Re: Only during Ramadan...

29/30 days are better than no days of following the religion.

Who knows with each year the person adds one more month or even one day/hour/minute... to these 29/30 days.

So, no need to bash/criticize or discuss negatively these people.

Re: Only during Ramadan…

YES!

Re: Only during Ramadan...

that is what is unique about ramadan ...it brings people together and makes people do sacrifices that normally they would not do during other times.

Re: Only during Ramadan...

They stop doing non-halal stuff during Ramadan?
I know of people who are skipping iftaars, taraweeh, and chances to do good because they are opting to go to house parties, bars, hookah joints, etc. Or they'll break their iftaar at a hookah joint and smoke away.

I don't think people really stay away from all that stuff during the entire month of Ramadan. I think now they just stay away from non-halal stuff during the last 10 days. It's getting worse.

It's hypocritical behavior. But I guess the reasoning is that during this month one can gain the most reward and forgiveness. It's just sad that people don't take advantage of it.

Re: Only during Ramadan...

I'd say the logic is that the same as if you're not doing everything right, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't bother trying to do anything right. Is it better than nothing? Well, I would definitely say that it seems better to me than people who don't even give up wrong habits in Ramadan. Of course, final judgement of it all belongs to someone else. From a purely "mathematical" point of view, if a person does something wrong during Ramadan, its gunnah is also multiplied 70 times or so. At least they're saving themselves from that.

Re: Only during Ramadan...

Only Allah swt knows what's in the heart. Also these people may use the month to abstain from bad and because of these actions their heart may soften and they may strive to become better inshAllah...'trying' is not hypocritical. If they then return to their previous lifestyle then may Allah swt judge them and bring them back towards the correct path...

it's better than the mentality of..'oh I don't do it anyway so praying in ramadan is gonna make me a hypocrite because it's it's not my normal done thing'! Hahahah this mentality will make none of us better....

Re: Only during Ramadan...

sad but true :(

we are supposed to make new and improved routines for ourselves and get used to them so we can use it throughout the year,,, but i guess it gets forgotten after some time :(

Re: Only during Ramadan…

Totally agreeeeeed :k:

I have seen many people… who are totally devoted to Allah bazahir but they speak lie all the time even to harm other people.

To topic… its not bad… at least they are trying… like i don’t listen music during Ramadan… I this way when i get habitual i will be able to eave music totally one day …
