i had mine issued in 2005 i believe when i was in ny. they actually made a small typo on the ID for my name [misspelled my last name]....anybody know how to get that corrected?

I submitted mines and my daugthers POC application yesterday, so lets see how 'good' they are, but the application took half of my office day's time but saved me from going to the good old embassy...
hehe that reminds me an accident that happened to my husband as he went to renew his passport there last week ...they were actually asking for halvas from one visitor, so the person goes to the backery to get them some sweet doses of bribery!!! my husband not very amused as he had to wait 2 hours for their chat to finish and to collect his passport that he applied for as urgent and then he gets it back HANDWRITTEN, hello in which centuary are we??

NADRA isnt a constitutional body, I mean you are praising the whole application process, thats where they come in. Its hard to get acclaim and appraisal these days, especially if its a Govt based organization, so NADRA must be doing a good job.
The religion thing, thats something the Govt introduced, and NADRA has to do what they're told.

NADRA has started issuing machine-readable passports quite a few years ago. So if you apply for your passport from within Pakistan or from one of the countries with a major Pakistani population (US, UK, UAE, etc.), you would get a computer-printed passport.
However the smaller embassies, like the one in Vienna, are not linked up to the system yet and therefore still issue handwritten passports.

its totally sklewed up
i tried to do it - a while ago - ran into some TECHNICAL issues with some data fields on the online form. Asked the ONLINE help for some clarification - got totally frustrated and then just forgot about it

A question though. Doesn’t having a POC give you dual citizenship? If so, then one cannot obtain security clearance in the US, since I have heard that people with dual citizenships are almost always denied clearance unless they surrender the other citizenship. The following link seems to state the same:
Saadia, I’ve not gotten ours yet and I submitted a day before you! This is sheer discrimination between viennian people and US’ian people 
paki, POC doesn’t make you a dual citizenship holder–I could have opted for dual citizenship but I didn’t go for it. To me POC was good enough which basically give you right to travel to Pakistan without having to obtain the visa and buy property etc but I DO NOT THINK it gives one right to vote in Pakistani elections.
I think if you apply for NICOP then you hold dual citizenship.
POC = Pakistan Origin Card – card that gives you privilege based on you being originally from Pakistan (by birth, ie)
NICOP = National ID Card for Overseas Pakistanis

That is correct. You can only get a POC, if you are NOT a Pakistani citizen. That is one of the conditions. It is only an identity card for people of Pakistani origin who do not have Pakistani citizenship. And it allows you to enter the country without a visa.
NICOP gives you rights to vote.

I don't know why would anyone get POC instead of NICOP. I got NICOPs for myself, my wife and both my kids. My kids are U.S Citizens by birth. Prople told me I could only get POC for them. I applied for their NICOPs online and got them within a month. Please note that, I never registered their births in Pakistan, niether did I ever apply for their "Bay" forms. I simply submitted the scanned copies of thier passports and birth certificate. I used NICOP during our recent visit to Pakistan. No more paki visas on blue passports, yaay.
