Individually what we can do is : Accept your muslim brother as your brother. Make it haram on ourself to take life, wealth, honor of our fellow muslim. Enjoin good and forbid evil. Let the differences be known and learn to live with it. Try not to impose our beliefs on others.

As nation what we can do is : Live and let live. Give everyone the right to do tabligh. Everyone should be allowed to call themselves Muslim. Government should not interfere and preach other people whose muslim and whose not. Scholars should accept eachother’s differences and preach to common people to treat them like your brothers. They should talk about beliefs common to them and if they want to talk about differences, do it such manner in which you take special care that you do not hurt someone’s feeling. Learn and live with it. Let Allah be the judge.

Ummah is one. Differences are a lot. Similarities are a lot too. Focus and emphasis more on what makes muslim a muslim and I think we can solve lots of our problems.

Some of this sounds good, but not all of it likely to improve peace, some may cause more divisions … You see early scholars saw the need to preserve the religion through formulations of the aqeedah and sciences of fiqh in order to keep the faith pure and free from error or dilution. The fitnah of khawarij, Mu’tazilis, and others caused big problems for Muslims and did lead to a lot of Fassad … So you see by opening the doors to free discussion and debate we may end up turning Islam in to a subject and losing its sanctity and importance in our lives.

All the while achieving a sense of peace with one another …
