I love as many things as I hate about the UAE. Its a very confused country which makes it quite interesting to observe and live in. We've been there since the late 60's yet it doesn't fail to amaze me every time I look around.
***What I really miss and loved about Dubai was the security and safety !
As a girl I could go out or come home at midnight or past and not worry or be scared......sometimes when I'd have night calls at the hospital and have to go in late , I'd not even think twice about going out alone !***
i love the sunshine, also the huge swing from east to west, go to Marina, Jumeria for a taste of the West, take a trip to Bur Dubai, Sharjah, Rolla and your in the East.
i love the little shops you can get tea from
i love how somone takes your ironing and brings it back.
i love how my car gets washed without me taking it to a car wash
i love how i can afford a cleaner in my home without having to sacrifice 3/4 of my salary.
The everything halal thing has to be amazing. No guilt associated with eating outside, or justifying it like a lot of Pakistanis do here as "Well the Arabs consider it alright so we will too". Most halal conscious people here are stuck eating at the really low quality desi and mid eastern restaurants, where yesterday's leftovers are served microwaved with a side of rudeness.
Dubai sounds like an awesome place for a professional.
We can't hate the entire race based on a couple of experiences. There are good and bad people all over.. more kidnapping, killings, rape, injustice etc happens world over.. how did u're uncle miss all that?
Dubai does has it's set-backs NO doubt, but it is fair. The rules are uniform and the same for everyone, u won't be bailed-out within hours if u're chacha gives some 'waasta'.
Dubai is tolerant to all religions, castes and ethnic backrounds/groups. Every region gives prefernce to it's nationals and Dubai is no different, it has specific benefits for locals but expats aren't looked down upon either.
I found the Emirati's to be very hospitable people, often at times they went out of their way to help. I feel secure in Dubai and have NO fear walking home at 3 am. It doesn't make me feel like an expat, therefore a sense of belonging.
In no way am I saying Dubai is the place to be and practically perfect in every way*. *But, it definately grows on u.
