Recently, I’ve noticed that a lot of conversation in regards of Islam turn into a negative and bitter debates so nothing on here is up for debate!
Inspired by the thread of what you like about being desi.
I’ll start
I love the respect given to women!
I really love our history and stories, especially Umar (r.a) and his smart wit statements!!
not muslim but there are a lot of things i love about islam, the respect for women which is there in other religions too but still most muslim men are very respectful as well towards women(hopefully nonmuslim as well as muslim women as i've been told), the verses on charity, the parts that are similar to all other faiths.\
oh Rumi is a result of Islam and i love Rumi's Poems so
i need to really think about it to add the other aspects i like, its been a while since i read a quranic verse so, a'll be baaack
Respect and rights given to women! What I really value is that in a marriage the assets of her husband belong to both husband and wife (equally), but what is hers is hers. I like how woman are able to hold jobs, vote, and own property.
I like how different from religious messages before Islam permitted divorce, even though it is disliked. This was a form of liberation.
I like how it promotes charitable acts, and stresses on good character.
Conversation sometime yeah turns in negative and bitter debates but in such situation we must try to bring back the conversation on positive track by our best answer in accordance to the Quran and Sunnah. Don't loose our patience and be calm on each post and asnwer our best in interest of every commentators/readers.
I know it doesn't always happen in real life, but true Islam respects females the most.
Earning sawab in Islam is very easy, even smiling to someone or when you see remove an obstacle from the road can become sawab. When you do it right, your entire life can become worship of Allah and earning sawab, may we all one day be able to live that kind of life. Islam is in fact an easy religion to follow.
When we pray, we don't need a certain place or certain people between us and Allah, we can pray anywhere and we pray directly to Allah. Nothing is unnecessarily complicated.
It's a very fair and equal religion
Its emphasis on giving to charity and doing good deeds.
I feel it's a very simple religion (that is only complicated by the people)and easy to follow.
It give's me great comfort.
I love how it is a 'way of life' and the way it dignifies females. But mooost of all i love the feeling you get when you pray sincerely to ALLAH to strive to get closer to him....

Respect give to women??? then why the hell one can have more than one wife?wh one needs four witnesses to prove a rape? Why they need to wear parda?

Yea, lol! This thread has a lot of lies. Woman are not equal, and they can be beaten and they are really not respected in Islam. Why are woman required to wear hijab and not men too? It doesn't matter if SOME Muslim woman don't have a problem but there are a lot of woman being forced to wear hijab and cover themselves. Parents have also been killing their daughters or physically/emotionally abusing them for not wearing hijab.
kashmiri men wear the pheran, i wish all muslim men would wear the pheran if the requirements are to cover the chest(private parts), head/hair, and all that is mentioned in the quran for women when practicing hijab. it makes more sense and fair
i like the concept of Futuwwa, islamic chivalry. wish more men would adhere to it, regardless of whether they are muslim or nonmuslim or atheist
Its not abt you having a praablem or not
. Prove me the point that ur religion gives respect to women.I gave my propesctive and give me valid argument against that. Just blindly saing that you love ur religion wont help me in
understanding how it respects women.
and two chamchas agreed on your point..funny!!
There's three types of questioners. 1: Who genuinely want to learn. 2: Who want to hold a one-sided debate. 3: Who only want to mock.
You, my dear, fall under category 3. Your first reply and we get words like chamchas thrown at us. So spare me the horror of discussing my beautiful religion with you.
If women arent respect'd in Islam - would you please tell me that prior to Islam which religion has given them the right /share in inheritance of the property of a deceased relative ?
The proof that Islam gives respect to women is evident but in order to show that we have to agree the terms to the proof. Let's say that we compare 5 different topics of your choosing about women in 5 of the worlds major religions and ask the women which they would choose and then we have "proof" that Islam gives respect to women. That should be a good test don't you think? If so let's start another thread on this.
in order to do that though i would like only scholars of those major 5 world religions to take part in that thread on comparing how much each gives respect to women. I dont think any of the members here have much in depth knowledge of their own religion let alone other religions.
Or how about we just look at the finest muslim man to have ever walked on this earth, Prophet Mohammad saw, and look at how he treated women to get all our answers?
You know what's funny. This question about women in Islam is usually answered by men. You want to know how a muslim woman feels? Ask a muslim woman! And stop confusing culture with religion. Taalibanisation isn't Islam! If the likes of Tony Blair's sister were going to get oppressed by converting to Islam, I don't think they'd do it. As for hijab, that topic had been discussed to death, get over it, it's my choice.
4 witnesses aren't required to prove rape, that's a common misconception..
**
4 witnesses are needed for proof of zina, **not rape.. For rape cases DNA, medical tests etc are perfectly admissable..
I don't like discussing Islam with people who are not interested in learning, but only want to fight and insult. So I'm not saying much, since I experienced it's mostly just not worth it. All I'd like to say is, statistics according to an article I once read show that most new converts to Islam are females. Western females at that. People who study Islam out of curiosity because of negative media and false accusations towards Islam, then they realise most of that negative media is unfair and untrue and they find out what Islam really represents and stands for, and many join Muslims. Most of these people are females.

i really did study islam, put my all into understanding certain concepts, i'm still learning about it and yes i'm a female but i really didn't get that overwhelming need to change my belief system b/c i put the effort to study it, but you're right i did get a lot of the misconceptions about islam cleared and now i make sure to correct nonmuslims that do say ignorant/insulting things about islam but that's the extent of it. so many beautiful concepts in every religion, can't really devote myself to one
actually learning more and more about most religions in general has gotten me to the point of saying no to all religions and just having a belief in God, that's all i need.
