You’ve been in “business” for 21 years, and don’t know what an RFP is??? Umm..If you have to ask me that, I don’t think I want what you’re offering…SMH…
Does common sense not exist anymore?
Ok, rant over. So, what’s the stupidest thing you’ve heard at work today? Discuss.
omg , you have been in business , you do not know that stupid and idiot do exist in the business world. Everybody is not Einstein in the workplace.
Rant over , so what's new ?

Pheww.
Glad it wasn't just me who found the criticism to be a little odd.
Request For Proposal.....for vendors to bid on contracts...the fool I was talking to came in with no appointment, no introduction, wanting to offer custodial/janitorial services for our school..when I explained that we are currently in a contract with another company and bidding will open up for next year this summer, submit an RFP (we're a public school) all I got was blank stares...and then "well I cleaned at the Univ of ___" and did a good job there".

Umm..ok....
And she goes on calling another human a "Fool" again.
^ Just in case you haven't noticed, I've no clue the person you refer to as the ultimate fool here is supposed to be a woman or a man, nor do I think I'd care to know. But what I'm trying to reiterate or say here is, stop hating unnecessarily on us fellow human beings who make mistakes just cause they hated making one in the 1st place, please?
Looks like this person who walked into your office did the actual cleaing in another University. People who get down on all fours and do the grunt work sometimes are not on top of abbreviations.
I think an imposter took over your keyboard today. We will see the real you again tomorrow.

Agreed, I don't think the person that came was a representative from any company. He was looking for work for himself - ofcourse he wouldn't know about RFP.
Sometimes we are so busy in our own world we don't realize what we do or say to others. We should take a moment and hear others out.

On a different note, this is so easily forgotten. We all (self included) can use a daily reminder about the importance of knowing the impact of what we say can have on others and listen with an open mind. Easier said than done, but truly a good philosophy.

Ok guys, I did not mean to come off as sounding elitist or snobby. Nor am I looking down on anyone out to make an honest living. This man did indeed own his own janitorial company. He was not some guy just looking for a job. Nor was he a minority (read mexican). His first words to me were "I've been in business for 21 years and specialize in schools"....so of course I'm going to assume he knows the process/lingo......
I think you guys know me well enough by now to see that I don't make a big deal out of nothing. I'm not a diva by any means.
Ok, rant #2 over. I've had an extremely bad day. Good 'ol cheery Khatti will be back tomorrow. If you're interested, go read my latest blog entry for the backstory on today.
So did you publish an EOI or RFQ ? , if not then you should be looking for a Business proposal not Response for Proposal … and he might be dealing with RFI ( request for information ) not RFPs .
It is you , the client who should be issuing RFP … not the vendors , they will be submitting their response to your RFP ..
/ writing Khatti’s Boss for sending her to Procurement department for one day session

Looks like I need to follow up on my own advice eh. The way you worded it made me think that way.
