He was a Muslim who happened to hate Gays among others. Muslims should acknowledge the bad eggs as readily as they do the good ones dont you think?
Turns out he was gay himself and he did the mass murder as revenge because some Puerto Rican had infected him with HIV, so he attacked the "Latino Night" to "get even".

Before lecturing others or calling someone a bigot, one should look in ones' own backyard, a country where an elected member of parliament is beaten up and has his face blackened by fellow MPs just for throwing a party where beef was allegedly consumed which is not only in accordance with his faith but should also be perfectly ok in 'secular' India, where a man is beaten to death by a mob of hindu extremists just for transporting cattle on a truck; both incidents happening during the past 10 months. Sirif 'secular' ka tag laga leney sey country secular nahin ho jata. India is certainly not secular or tolerant in the sense western societies are. Hindu extremists are just as bad as any other extremists. I have no time for extremists of any hue.
I respect other people's right to live how they wish to live but it does not mean I have to accept something that is against my beliefs. I will tolerate it for sure. I would not harm anyone for being homosexual. That's not how I was brought up by my parents.
Equally I do not expect Westerners travelling to muslim countries to suddenly have a brainstorm and stop drinking alcohol or stop going to the casinos or stop going to the clubs and beaches if those facilities are available...or start wearing a hijab!! They have every right to enjoy themselves & they do in places such as Dubai, Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt), Turkey, Tunisia and Malaysia etc.
If by integration we mean being responsible law-abiding citizens, paying your taxes, contributing usefully to the society or interacting with your colleagues and fellow professionals then the vast majority of muslims living in the West are already doing that. Just as an example many are top medical professionals in UK, USA and Canada. But if one means giving up one's faith and cultural values completely, then that is not assimilation. It is called slavery. One just needs a bit of commonsense to find the right balance between the two cultures.

To be fair, I believe Southie does not defend the bad in India. Though we disagree on many issues due to our views of theology, and beliefs, but I know him to be a fair person overall. Just sayin'.

What does the last sentence even mean. We hail from a country where close to 2000 muslims were slaughtered and we rewarded the person in charge with the Prime Ministership.

Please see my posts up thread re India. I called one post a bigoted post. And that was not your post, it was a post from a person of my nationality. Reason for describing the post as such was that post attacked Islam. I try not to go after a specific religion. But I raise the issue of how religion in general can be more tolerant. My only responses to u were in posts 93 and 95. I simply used the words you used to describe homosexual conduct to describe those who speak thusly of homosexuals. If those words are hurtful or damaging or uncalled for, you can surely appreciate that homosexuals would feel the same about your choice of words to describe them.
Words matter. Use of harsh words to describe a set of people who aren't harming others is not tolerance. It is OK to say this lifestyle is not aligned with ones beliefs or religion. It is not OK to use dehumanizing language to describe people and their conduct.
I sort of agree with the rest of your post.

That is always the case, media try to find a connection with "Izlam/Mozlem" create a mole hill, when anything else is discovered media becomes mum and does not spend time clarifying.
