Oil Cleansing Method

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

Was skyping with my sister & she complimented me on my skin. Said I am glowing & this was at 12:00 am. Woke up in the middle of the night. Had nothing on my face. I am more motivated to keep up with this & do it every night now.

Ladies get your supplies.

Couple of clean wash clothes. (7 if you can. This way you can just throw them in your weekly laundry)
A travel size squirt/shampoo bottle (you can find it at Walgreens/Walmart)
Extra Virgin Olive oil (grab it from your kitchen if anything)
Castor Oil (easily available at Walgreens here in US)

Will share details on what I have learned & exactly how its done & combination for different skins later.

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

You haz no faith in my capability to carry a thread on my own? :teary1:

Bint_e_Naeem, after reading your last post and everyone else’s I am more than motivated. Are you doing this everyday or every other day? Everyday sounds a bit excessive to me, but I guess everyone’s skin will react differently.

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

^ I do it every night but I have also stopped using any face wash or scrubs on my face. Olive Oil & Castor oil is all I use now. Its all natural so every day doesn't harm.

Will post later.

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

Okay so the way this works in simple terms is that all the cleansers & face washes we use to clean off oil from our faces actually strip off a bit much & in turn our skin naturally produces more oil which in turn causes the opposite affect.

I have combination skin but in summer it gets too oily & winter time its just fine except for when I lived in the harsh dry weather of the Rocky mountains.

Olive oil rejuvenates your skin & castor oil works as an anti inflammatory, anti fungal & a great cleanser.

Below are the mixes for different type of skins. I"ll suggest making a small batch enough to last for 2-3 days. If your skin feels too tight, try reducing the Castor Oil & increasing the Olive Oil. Experiment with what works best for you & then make a big batch to last you a month.

Oily skin: 70% Castor Oil, 30% Olive Oil

Dry Skin: 30% Castor Oil, 70% Olive Oil

Combination Skin: 50% Castor Oil, 50% Olive Oil

Mix the desired concoction in an empty jar or saucer (just realized I used the word saucer after ages). Pour it into the shampoo bottle.

Method:

Pour oil into the palm of your hand till it forms a small pool, about the size of a quarter.

Rub your hands together to warm up the oil a bit.

Massage your face for at least a minute using circular motions.

Rinse your washcloth in hot water (as hot as you can handle) ring it & place it on your face for at leas 30 seconds or till it starts getting cooler.

Gently wipe your face & remove the oil using the wet washcloth.

Voila admire your beautiful skin. Give this at least a month to show some visible changes in your skin. In the mean time avoid any other cleansers & washes.

Good luck beauties.

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

Will Castor oil grow hairs on the face since it is known good for hair growth?

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

Lilly the person whose blog I followed & tried the OCM method mentioned that she hasn't had any "extra" hair growth on he face except that she feels like her eye brows have definitely gotten fuller.

My face doesn't have a lot of hair. I only do my eye brows & wax my upper lip area every 2 weeks. I haven't noticed any extra hair so I don't think that would be a concern.

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

I started this a couple of days ago..I've had to adjust the ratios a little, but so far so good!

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

Yes I was also wondering abt castor oil increases hair growth.....
i ve been using it for sometime but not regular.. Haven't noticed any increase in hair growth... But still don't know abt long term use... Hmmm

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

Bint, so this is good for taking off makeup as well? I don't wear foundation on a daily basis but I do wear mascara and eyeliner...will this remove it?

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

I m not bint bt just wanna answer... Yes it removes everything soo nicely.. Just massage it on ur eyes or dip a cotton ball in oil like 2-3 drops and clean it the way u uclean it with normal makeup removers...n then wipe all the oil off with hot washcloth..like bint mentioned it..m:)

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

Reha: Yep, this will remove ALL make-up. I've used OCM only (ie. no MU remover) to clean full-face makeup with no problem (primer/foundation/blush/full eye MU etc.).

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

I love this! I've been using it for about a month now and I can see results!! I had really bad acne, and this helped get rid of all of it. I do have scars but hopefully over time, they'll fade away as well. I do get some pimples once in a while around my period, but that's about it. Alhamdulillah.
I have oily skin so I use 50% castor oil, 50% extra virgin olive oil. I wouldn't recommend using more castor oil than that because it may dry out your skin. Play around with the numbers and see what suits you best. I have reallyoily skin so this is what personally suits me. Get a bunch of different washcloths, so you don't have to wash them every time.
Massage the oil onto your face, grab a washcloth and keep it under hot water (as hot as you can handle ;)) and place it on your face. It'll help open the pores. The good oil will go in, and the bad will come out. It'll replace the bad oil with good. Wipe off, and repeat 3-4 times. Then, keep the washcloth under cold water and place it on your face to close the pores.

What I do after is apply rose water on my face as a toner, and that really helps too. Before sleeping, I apply castor oil around my eyes to get rid of fine lines/dark circles and increase the length of my eyelashes. It really does work! I've only been using it on my eyes for 2-3 days now and I can see results. Also it helps them become stronger so they don't fall out when removing make up.

@Reha: I use this method twice a day, and it honestly helps so much when removing make up! I once tried my usual method, and then tried this, and you'd be surprised by how much dirt is still left on your skin. This removes everything! And you get a soft glow too! :-) You don't even need to use any moisturizer or cleanser. Cleansers are actually bad for you because they get rid of ALL the oil on your skin, so your skin produces more and more. OCM helps regulate the amount of oil you produce as well. It's awesome - you should try it! It really does work wonders.

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

yup it removes all make up quite easily as mentioned, even those irritating water proof mascaras. I'd say use a separate piece of cotton though, instead of using your washcloth itself. just dab some oil and remove the make up with a cotton and then put some more fresh oil and carry on...

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

For those of you with oily skin, does it help in oil control in the long run?

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

can u use products like the mac cleansing oil and i think nars have one too or this completely different?

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

I tried it for the first time last night and I just used EVOO because I didn't have any castor and I was too impatient to wait!

Yesterday I had a full face of makeup on: primer, foundation, blush, eye primer, shadow, eyeliner, mascara, etc.

I used the method described by DS above...the hot washcloth then cold.

I loved it...my makeup came right off in the first shot. I repeated out of habit but I didn't need to because even the eyeliner residue you see sometimes was completely gone. No dark ring under the eyes...that bothers me A LOT. I also noticed that I didn't need to moisturize but did it anyway. It doesn't make your skin oily...just a little more supple.

My skin was glowing afterwards. My face felt very smooth and clean. This was after only one use.

Obviously its too soon to tell if this will break me out or not but I have a feeling it won't. The oil doesn't feel like its clogging your pores and I don't understand why. Its oil...so shouldn't that heavy feeling be there? But it isn't so I will continue to use it.

Thanks Bint for an awesome recommendation!

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

Okay, so questions for the ladies. After using the OCM to cleanse, should I be using a natural toner and then moisturizing also? Or is moisturizing overkill - and could I use the RH oil to moisturize?

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

1) I don't use a toner afterwards.

2) Whenther or not you use moisturizer afterwards is upto you. I don't b/c my skin doesn't feel dry.

3) You can use ANY oil you want to do the OCM and also to moisturize afterwards.

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

So the OCM is meant for at night. The next morning, I should wash with water and wipe with a facecloth, tone and then moisturize, right?

Re: Oil Cleansing Method

Your welcome Reha. I know I am in love with this.

Sehrysh I don't tone or moisturize the next morning either. I just don't find the need to do it at all. Just wash with water & towel dry. The only time I used the moisturizer is before applying foundation for days when I do any makeup.

So far I have been doing it at night time right before sleeping.

I read online that if you do feel like still moisturizing in the morning then wet your palms & squirt a penny size amount of the oil mixture on your palms. Rub & massage.

Also I used to use baby oil for removing heavy eye make up. I tried using the Olive oil instead & I didn't get the burning sensation that I usually get after using baby oil.
