"ahh...i've been on an emotional rollercoaster this week, i don't think i can go ahead with this routine anymore. :("
I said this in a different thread - look at fitness as a long-term goal. My doctor told me something that I will never forget - just as water beats gently against a rock - consistently, look at exercise the same way. Do not go extreme - too intense followed by periods of inactivity.
No need to get discouraged if you cannot go ahead with a specific routine - maybe it was just too intense. Cut back to what your are comfortable with. Have fun with it :)
can someone please explain whats wrong with taking cereals? I got worried as I read it in this thread, I have to lose min 10 kg inshaAllah and I started taking Kellog's special K cereal for breakfasts, shall I stop having it? What about the oats? the low fat instant ones?
CDG keeps talking about protein breakdown when that is the last thing to go in negative calorie state.
not really. when you are on a calorie debt for over a few days, your body decides you are going thru times of scarcity, and trims down muscle (because muscle is hungrier and costs more to maintain). ketosis is real. fat gets used as well, but body hangs on to it as it is an efficient low-cost way for it to store energy for the future. you dont know what you are talking about as usual pal..
hareem pal you are doing awesome by splitting your workouts into multiple times during the day.
^thanks queer but I changed the pattern a week ago, now I'm doing just one big cardio session 4 days a week and 3 days longer sessions of pilates, I divided it into multiple sessions because i used to get tired very quickly.
Humble and sincere advice: Organize your thoughts before trying to be smart.
Let me say it clear and in simple way.
In negative calorie state,
First thing to go is readily available energy as glucose in blood. This depletes rather quickly.
Then the large glucose molecules/bundled in the form of glycogen. (Liver and Muscles)
Then come the fat storage. This is the beginning of gluconeogenesis. (making glucose from cells other than carbohydrates)
Fat cells breakdown and… then proteines/amino acids also come and try to generate immediately available energy source as glucose etc.
You started by saying over a few days. The glycogenolysis occurs for first 16-18 hours (maybe more depending on the stored amount)… so you are already talking about late stage when you say ‘few days’.
And then there comes the funniest of your statement…about body trying to hang on to fat cells …in few days, as you mentioned in the beginning.
My dear, in negative calorie/nitrogen state, body is smarter than you. It does not care or worry about hanging on the fat cells, the body wants to utilize whatever can maintain the functions of essential organs (heart, brain and kidneys).
Well-fed body works on storing energy for future. Not starving body!
Have you ever heard of a poor man dying from hunger worrying about saving for the future?
Now go back please and read simple books on human physiology during fasting/exercise before giving your opinion.
^^^ His points are congruent with pre-med textbooks.
I'd like to know the source from which you derive a contrasting opinion, because I've never come across any of the logic you've presented in my 6 years at university.
Thanks a lot stopit. I have all of these low calorie cereals as a part of ‘heathy’ diet sigh
InshaAllah will look for natural oats now. What about the porridge that comes in packets? Like the Fauji cereals, cos yesterday I visited the superstore but I couldn’t find the natural oats, though there was this porridge labelled stuff.
