Ogling

Re: Ogling

No, she's saying that how can you say this crap goes on mostly in balochi... it goes on in Lahore and karachi :)

Re: Ogling

Yes, I believe it mostly goes on in baloch, and that guys are responsible. THey have the most messed up tribal jurist system ever.

Not to say it doesn’t go on in lahore karachi etc etc. Most of it occurs in Baloch without sometimes even getting reported.

We’rent you the one who opened the heart shattering thread for Makhter Mai?

Re: Ogling

when going through this discussion pages 1 and 2 were quite constructive, but page 3 is starting to lack in quality. so shall we ensure that page 4 gets back to being constructive again? :--)

Re: Ogling

^ yes where trying to figure out where the ogling occurs.

Re: Ogling

Yeah i did. I’m jsut saying, it doesn’t only happen in Baloch, it happens elsewhere… anyway this discussion is getting ridiculous, we both agree on it anyway my phunni lil gai boi

Re: Ogling

Ok we admit as a men that it IS a big issue in Pakistan and some thing should be done about it.

Now where to start ? Is any woman willing to coming in front like Mukhtara Maai and tell every one about it ?

If thats not the correct way then what can be ? ... don't tell me its government jOb ...:)

Re: Ogling

Because I’ve seen covered up ones get lascivious stares as well.

Re: Ogling

It's true, ogling is just the most primary form of harrassment, what the girls have written are very common in all areas of Pakistan including metropolitan cities. It's called "eve teasing", a term which is as good a euphemism you will find. It's a big problem (partially because it is faced only by women) yet it is treated with nonchalance: the "boys will be boys" mentality. Men laugh it off until it happens to their own daughter or sister.

This is just bad upbringing, where children are not taught to respect women. They are not taught that a woman isn't just a free for all target or anything goes type object. Mothers are at blame here, for failing to educate their children on this. In fact, such mothers would justify and defend their own sons' behaviour if they are ever caught doing it.

Re: Ogling

^ Unfortunately, yeah, mothers who support this behavior are the type who would cry "well she shouldn't even be out!!" .. Yeah men are bad too but women can be even worse to each other :(

Re: Ogling

skhan is right. the key is not in gov’t education or anything like that. its at education at home. now how do you facilitate this at a grand scale level? Actually, here the gov’t can come into play. They can have sexual harassment education made mandatory at all schools, where teachers work with parents directly and with kids directly to teach them about the negatives of sexual harassment. Some input from our entertainment industry by having documentaries and dramas especially made on the topic with explicit scenes should also be shown to parents and children.

To top it off, there needs to be a state punishment for it. So if anyone is caught grabbing a girl can be thrown in jail ON THE SPOT. And if a female complains, and as long as there is a witness, she can report him as well.

So its a problem of , as usual in Pakistan, of lack of education and awareness on the matter, the religious ullemas turning their face away from it as if it doesn’t exist, and lack of reliable law enforcement.

Re: Ogling

Men and women both ogal each other. Its just that men are easily caught. :bummer:

Also, women are checking out women mostly. To see their clothes shoes etc. Men don’t do that :p. About that male in Pakistan staring at female thing, if you look around you’ll see that Desi Female do that too. Especailly Aunties  like they are looking for rishta or something.

Re: Ogling

What makes you say something about such Ullema and Alimahs?

Re: Ogling

oh goodness gracious… I finally found the answer :o
