Re: Official thread for chicas
I'm not married and am 24.
All through teenage years, my periods were irregular, had terrible cramps, and usually lasted 5-6 days.
When I was about 21, I started taking Ortho Tri Cyclen(birth control pills in case anyone isn't familiar with that brand) to deal with my acne. I've been taking it for almost 3 years, and it helped with my acne a lot. Personally, I haven't had any problems with it.
A few months after I started taking the pill, once my body got used to the chemicals, I also noticed that my periods became MUCH LESS painful, became regular like clockwork, and also lasted only about 3 days. Heck these days, I know the exact day it will start, and the exact day it will end.
As far as periods getting "better" after marriage, it has nothing to do with sex. It has to do with birth control pills and majority of the desi women wait until marriage until they start taking it.
As far as tampons go, I've been using them since I was 19(almost 4 years) and that's the only thing I use. Heck after I started using tampons, these days, I don't understand how I ever used anything else. It's literally just like the commercials say....once put in properly, you don't even realize you're wearing it b/c you can't "feel" it. And yes, they work perfectly as long as you change them regularly.
As far as the comment about tampons making you lose your virginity....that's ridiculous. People who say that are referring to tampon's tearing a women's hymen. Well, not all women have a hymen to begin with. And other than tampons, even activities like riding a bike or horse, and other sports can break it too. Just because a woman doesn't have a hymen, that doesn't mean she's not a virgin.
