Of oddly placed necklaces, Jhumars and Tikas.....

Currently many photoshoots are being done where a model is wearing a jewelry item quite out of place than it is traditionally worn like necklaces as matha pattis or a side jhumar, jhumar as a wide tikka or a lopsided tikka.

Do you think the styles would work for real life brides? Would you like wearing a oddly places jewelry item on your wedding?

The famous bride who wore her necklace as a jhumar.

Her jhumar becomes the tikka:

i think this is a necklace meena kumari is wearing on the side of her head?:

its not a look i’d personally go for. i think the one that bothers me the most is the lopsided teeka.. sometimes it just doesn’t look like its done intentionally lol
but the real bride you posted with the necklace on the side doesn’t look so bad!

Re: Of oddly placed necklaces, Jhumars and Tikas.....

it looks absolutely hideous. some people may say, oh the right person can pull it off, blah blah blah, but honestly, they all look ridiculous. if a 'real life' bride did this it would be because no one had the heart or balls to tell her how absurd she looked. :)

i don't like it at all...maybe for a fashion shoot or editorial spread, it makes sense, but real life? no way......

Re: Of oddly placed necklaces, Jhumars and Tikas.....

Unless its something that CAN be pulled off as a teeka or jhoomer, it doesn't look right.

That necklace looks weird to me...I would be confused if I was at that event and saw her. It might have looked better if it was just placed on her head actually.

Sometimes a jhoomer can be pulled off as a teeka but not always. The lopsided teeka looks horrible...looks like it tilted and never got put back into place. I have seen necklaces worn as matha pattees but I don't like matha pattees so...no to that too.

She is carrying it so well..unless & untill u r SURE dat u can pull it off superbly dont go for it but personally i like such innovations & would love to go for it.

LOL the first picture looks like she's just put her earring on her head. Personally i don't like it..a jhumar looks better where its supposed to belong! the rest of them look a bit weird too :/ each o their own i guess!

I love hair accessories so I liked the look of it when I first started seeing it in MUA’s portfolios, but now to be honest I’m a bit bored of it because I keep seeing it EVERYWHERE. The number of times I’ve seen it look really bad/mismatched far outweighs the number of times I’ve seen it look good.

Having said that, I tried it out myself for a wedding I attended in Feb this year and got lots of compliments:

Here’s a real bride who I think suited the look:
