Re: ODI Captain post World Cup
That applies to ALL pace bowlers btw. Johnson was ineffective in the recent test series vs Pak in UAE. Even Steyn struggled in UAE. Lillee was ineffective in Pakistan.
But if you consistently bowl at 150+ kph you will trouble most batsmen on any surface. And if you can reverse swing the old ball (which Wahab clearly can now) you take the pitch out of the equation.
Azhar Ali’s game is not suited to ODI cricket. He is another tuk tuk player. I would make Wahab or Sarfraz (but it might be expecting too much of him to keep, open and lead as well) ODI captain. Dhoni has done extremely well as ODI skipper so let’s wait and see.
Consider the team who cannot complete 50 overs one tuk tuk player is needed. He can also play shots if situation needs or allows ( by good stand of openers )
