Misbah and Afridi will have retired from ODIs. Misbah will perhaps continue as test captain for a year
Afridi is the T20 captain until 2016
Most likely Hafeez will be appointed as ODI captain
PCB should think outside the box and appoint Azhar Ali or Sarfaraz Ahmed as ODI captain imo

I don't think Afridi is going to retire right after the Worldcup ..... i expect him to perform one of his usual u-turns
Azhar Ali is a good choice but is he automatic selection?
What will we be left with after the WC regardless of the outcome from now on?

As per traditions, PCB picks a player who they earlier have dumped... so i guess it would be Fawad Alam if not Hafeez.

Expect Misbah to continue as test captain for 12-15 months
Seniority culture should not be an issue once Misbah and Younis have left the scene (mainly talking about test captaincy here)
as all the viable captaincy candidates are almost the same age (subject to verification by PD!!)

Asad Shafiq is 29
Sarfaraz Ahmed is 27
Fawad Alam is 29
lekin Hafeez (34) gand daal sakta hai..

The professor who quit captaincy after T20 failure in recent years, u guys think he is captain material ?
he can't bat properly, not allowed to bowl (who knows if he will be effective with changed action, just like Ajmal).
I'd rather stick with Misbah rather than any of these guys, such as, hafeez, afridi, younas khan, etc. they're just a bunch of emotional dudes
Making Umer Akmal or Sarfaraz Captain will put them under pressure and their performances may suffer. I hope some all-rounder will be the captain, specially NOT from batting side. Rather be it bowler or allrounder. Like how Wasim used to be, or Imran Khan, etc. That's what works for the team. Misbah may be exception as he is strong mentally and can take pressure.

It would be stupid to look for a permanent captain for next WC right now as there are no serious contenders in the race. There will be many players who will debuet by next WC so pakistan should show some patience instead of rushing to conclusions.
I say make Hafeez or Malik ODI captain for now, make a strong contender his WC and see for one year. Build a team around a captain and come up with a permanent (non retiring) captain two three years ahead of next WC.

my inside sources in lahore first class cricket told me few weeks ago that Shoaib malik is all set to stage a comeback after the WC. many secret meetings with PCB recently as well. lets see.

ahhh, i wish but those my inside sources are all retired now...so not much influence...we are all in late 30s ...but they are connected enough to get some news! could very well be rumor.

Make one of them the captain and let their performances inspire rest of the squad.
