PCG, yeah I've been taught by some as well. My ethics and law philosophy profs were women. But the fact remains, most of the philosophers in textbooks are men, overwhelmingly so. If women do contribute, they contribute on feminism and female subjugation at the hands of organized religion and men, never anything else. I am talking about religious philosophy here.
hm, I wouldn’t say you are all of that, but you sure are a woman who keeps harping about imperfections of other women. But you know what, you don’t linger on outward, superficial imperfections such as bad hair or big ass, you dig deeper, you focus on the inner aspects. Such as their bitchiness, jealousy, dumbness … well, you get the point.
Don’t be fooled by Minah_pa’s “caress then slap” style.
First two paragraphs of the quote praise you mildly then wallops you in paragraph 3-8. Be vigilant, don’t be fooled by such feints. Brush it aside and respond in kind to her patronizing comments. Shabash!
Minah darling,
I thought, I’d just level the playing field a little.
No problem, LI, Sarah and I have tangeled in the past about this issue. Patronizing, yeah, a bit. Have to give what you get.
Doesn't negate the fact that I really do think she has a point about the 'trendy' feminists and agree with some of what she says. But dismissing the work of two generations because of the airheads is, well, to use your word, patronizing.
a good feminist is she (or he) who doesn't talk much about feminism, instead let's her actions do the talking.
in a way it can be compared to the bad name 'mullahs' have received over the last couple of years: a bad mullah is the one who talks too much.....the good one is he who lets his actions do the talking. Same goes for feminists actually.
a feminists is the mullah (in the 'bad' meaning) of feminism
Nescio you are confusing belief with advocacy. Advocacy requires tangible “noise” to make sure the issues are brought forth and policies affected. It took rallies and marches in the 70’s to get Title IX passed in the NCAA, that meant that finally women’s sports were given the same amount of monies and afforded the same amount of scholarships to women atheletes that men enjoyed for years. That means that should I have a daughter, and if she excels in swimming or basketball, that she has the opportunity to achieve her full potential.
Every woman needs to be a feminist. Progress had been made, because of those spoke up and asked for change based on logic. Kind of like progress will be made when women become priests and imams, because logic says women are no less capable of spirituality.
As for those who think feminism is a dirty word, you are self loathing biyatches.
MQ, what makes you think that? By your logic I would also be a muslim because I protested against some of the provisions that preclude people named mohammed from getting student visas. You can't handle this kid!!
Pinstripe: I agree. Its usually when a guy has daughters or is thinking od it, that feminism becomes so important. My daddy became a feminazi himself after having 2 girls.
Right, that is why I keep giving tangible examples to back up statements and you keep relying on your sophomoric wit intertwined with the ostrich syndrome. :)
aww now you talk about my wit. How touching. Khushi ke aansoon. Told you you cant handle it. No problem. Insults might be your way, whatever suits your fancy.
I have no issue with feminism so long as women dont give up themselves in the process. Im all for feminism - only if a female can be an equal by being just that -a female.
However, looks like people miss that point too often.
Muslim Queen - what do you mean by being feminist while being a female?
I think you're saying the same thing every other feminist is. Do you see most feminists rejecting their roles as moms? No. They want to be good moms. They have nice neat homes too. The only thing that feminists really argue against men about is that men have historically taken away their God-given right to CHOICE.
That is, if I want to take a walk at 9 pm at night, my husband can't tell me "ghar mein behto - bahar nahi jaa sakti ho".
If I want to take up a job, no guy can hinder me. That if I apply for a job or work hard in school, etc - no one can give a guy greater reward because he's a guy - no one can refuse to hire me because I'm a female.
Sure there are extreme offshoots here and there, but aren't there extreme men as well? Would you judge all Germans by Hitler?
