Re: Obsessed
Minah, what are you on about woman. I'm not alking about the women at the fringes who were eugenists and in favor of forced sterilization. I'm talking about women right at the forefront. Those same women who were suffragettes, who got us the vote, who got us recognized as persons, actually, I should say who got white, middle-class, sans mental disability women. Like Nellie McClung and Emily Murphy. Emily Murphy went on and on about the harm posed by Chinese and blacks in her book, in addition to Jews, immigrants. She traveled the freakin country prmoting sterilization and eugenics. She said something along the lines of, "these are becoming more populous than the upper crust". I am paraphrasing but the gist is the same, the message is the same. Do an online search, you will porbably find the exact quote. And wasn't this woman part of the Famous Five? The women who are our heros? Thousands of women were sterilized under the Alberta Sterilization act, MOST, the freakin majority, of them were women. The Famous Fives pushed for the enactment of the Act. The only women helped were their own race, their own class, lucky women.
Please stop toeing the party line without even knowing the other side of your precious feminists. Maybe you should read a little. You will be shocked as I was, but at least maybe you will stop depicting them as angels who can do no wrong.
