Washington (CNN)The White House is dismissing a controversial report alleging President Barack Obama and his administration lied about the circumstances surrounding the 2011 killing of Osama bin Laden as “baseless.”

“There are too many inaccuracies and baseless assertions in this piece to fact check each one,” White House National Security spokesman Ned Price said in a statement to reporters.
He took aim specifically at journalist Seymour Hersh’s assertion that the administration collaborated with Pakistani officials to kill the al Qaeda leader, saying that “the notion that the operation that killed Usama Bin Ladin was anything but a unilateral U.S. mission is patently false.”
“As we said at the time, knowledge of this operation was confined to a very small circle of senior U.S. officials. The President decided early on not to inform any other government, including the Pakistani Government, which was not notified until after the raid had occurred,” Price said.
“We had been and continue to be partners with Pakistan in our joint effort to destroy al-Qa’ida, but this was a U.S. operation through and through.”

Well they need Pakistan, so they have to bear its dual-games and bluffing.

In the entire version of US operation to capture OBL, the one thing that I clearly dont buy is his sea burial. Its just not the way they operate even for a person who's dead.

If you get a chance I highly recommend to watch the documentary on OBL in netflix which is based on a book. It clearly has shown CIA's head saying that all we wanted is to capture OBL dead or alive, chop off his head, put it in a dry ice and bring it over to present President. So, no i dont think there was a sea burial at all.

Seymour Hersh's account makes a lot of sense.

Helicopter stealth technology does not exist, you can make helicopters harder to detect (as was done with Seal Team 6's helicopters), but you cannot hide the noise and visibility they have at low altitudes. Nor can you keep their presence in an urban area hidden for long enough to avoid an intercept by the air force.

The only way that they could have flown into Abbotabad is if they were allowed to fly into Abottabad,

Btw who has read complete article? I just finished and I must say i was on the edge of my seat. Its very sensational and infact I would highly recommend everyone reading it completely before commenting.

My biggest problem with this is that the origin of this article is comming from Durrani, who himself is a huge shady character in Pakistani intelligence. These people enjoy all the shares and perks (legal or illegal) when they are in uniform and then start chatting around like gossip women after retirement.

And if all of this is true, someone needs to try Musharraf, Kiyani and Shuja Pasha (atleast) for treason charges and hiding a terrorist.

Though Obama's economic plan like saving the auto industry paid dividends in the Midwest, you have to admit he brushed up on his national security credentials with OBL raid. I also think that it is a reason that Romney wasn't able to make a big stink on Benghazi that Obama is soft on terror.

If you don't believe military posturing works then please tell me how did bush win in 2004? The surplus from Clinton time had evaporated, economy was at least in a mild recession and there were congressional hearings on why gas prices had gone up over $2 per gallon (Iraq). Now, it isn't a big deal as people probably wish for that prive, but it was a shock back then.

You think people chose Obama over Romney just because he had netted OBL? Nothing to do with his bold actions on immigration etc?
How many republicans/tea-party activists do u know? Please go and ask them. They hate Obama by all means and would never vote for him even if he conquers entire world. All the nuetral ones also didnt vote for him due to OBL neither did democrats. They voted for him for his bold stand and the promises for reforms on insurance, immigration laws, human rights issues like gay/lesbian/trans rights etc.

I don't think we can compare Bush's win in 2004 to Obama's in 2012. Obama accomplished a lot more between 2008 - 2012 than Bush lost between 2000-2004.

Bush squandered an immense amount of good-will for the US that 9/11 generated by mismanaging the invasion of Afghanistan and later waging a war in Iraq under false pretenses, tanked the economy and empowered a very corrupt inner circle.

Obama got the Healthcare bill passed, saved the economy from the brink, saved the auto-industry and made some money for the federal government while doing that and got OBL. With or without OBL, he could have won the re-election; Mitt Romney lost the election when his '40%' speech got leaked.

Am still surprised that Bush managed to get re-elected in 2004; the only reason I can think of why is coz Kerry couldn't land the knock-out blow during debates.
