Moin recall represents slap in the face for Sohail :hehe:

The ongoing dispute over the selection of the Pakistan squad for the forthcoming series against New Zealand took another turn when Moin Khan was recalled after what was officially described as a “rethink”.

Moin was omitted from the 22-man squad announced by Aamir Sohail, Pakistan’s chief selector, last week. But his choices were roundly condemned as it was revealed he had not consulted with Pakistan’s coach, Javed Miandad, or Inzamam-ul-Haq, the captain.

“The selectors have reconsidered the inclusion of Moin after a rethink on their part,” Ramiz Raja, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s chief executive, told reporters. “They felt it would be better to have two wicketkeepers in the training camp for New Zealand.”

The announcement represents a public, but unofficial, rebuke for Sohail.

Revised Pakistan squad Inzamam-ul-Haq (capt), Imran Farhat, Salman Butt, Saleem Elahi, Taufeeq Umar, Yasir Hameed, Yousuf Youhana, Asim Kamal, Misbah-ul-Haq, Bilal Asad, Abdul Razzaq, Azhar Mahmood, Shoaib Malik, Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Sami, Umar Gul, Shabbir Ahmed, Abdul Rauf, Mohammad Irshad, Fahad Masood, Kamran Akmal (wk), Danish Kaneria, Moin Khan (wk).

Moin Khan is back!

After a lots of criticism in the media…Aamir Sohail’s Boss intervened to bring the veteran wicketkeeper and ex-captain of Pakistan, Moin Khan back into the squad…at least in the 22 probabales for the time being against NZ…

Pakistan recalls axed keeper Moin Khan for New Zealand series

(Updated at 1630 PST)
KARACHI: Pakistani selectors Monday reversed their decision to drop experienced wicketkeeper Moin Khan after a call from the country’s cricket boss urged them to include him in the squad for a five-match one-day series against New Zealand later this month.

“Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Lieuntenant General Tauqir Zia talked to chief selector Aamir Sohail and convinced him to add the experienced Moin in the list of probables,” PCB chief executive Ramiz Raja said.

Zealand, expected here on November 20, will play their first first match in Faisalabad on November 22. Their itinerary includes two matches in Rawalpindi on November 24 and 25

and another two in Lahore on November 29 and December 1.

Moin and equally experienced wicketkeeper Rashid Latif were excluded from a list of 22 probables picked up by the selection committee last week. The decision came under strong criticism in the national media despite Sohail’s claim the decision was targeted at a future with young wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal.

It also prompted bitterness between the chief selector and coach Javed Miandad. Miandad said the announcement was arbitrary as Sohail consulted neither him nor the Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq.

old news

Moin should have always been included. The recalled him for the series against SA, and now they kicked him out again. If you're gonna re-call a player, at least give him a chance to prove himself. Im sure his keeping will get better cuz he came back to international cricket after 2 and a half years, so it takes time to adjust.

they should have had 2 wicketkeepers all along, but humayan farhat should have been the other one... they should look at grooming 2 wicket keepers for the future.. this will give us more options similar to when we had rashid and moin as our 1 and 2

Seems like nothing happened and all the garbage the Aamir Sohail pulled this time is gonna be ignored again.

Bakwaas.

If I was Amir Sohail, I would resign.

New Zealand receive threat before Pakistan tour/ 4 NZ players optout of Pakistan tour

Craig McMillan, Lou Vincent, Scott Styris and Ian Butler are to miss New Zealand’s five-match one-day international tour of Pakistan which starts next week. They have opted out of the tour with the backing of New Zealand Cricket.

It was revealed today that NZC have received a threat concerning the safety of the New Zealand players on the tour. Martin Snedden, the chief executive of NZC said today: "The threat is being discussed with the (NZ) Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and investigations are proceeding to determine its validity.

“We have notified the ICC and the Pakistan Cricket Board of the threat and have entered into a consultation process with them. That process is expected to be completed over the next three or four days. We will continue to keep the Cricket Players’ Association and the players fully informed throughout the process.”

NZC decided to proceed with the tour last week after a comprehensive security review was completed by independent security adviser Reg Dickason. As a result of his findings NZC decided they would make the tour.

They also decided that all members of the team and its management, and players in contention for selection, would have the right to make an individual choice about whether to tour. NZC would continue to monitor the safety and security situation in Pakistan before and during the tour and would react as required to any information received.

The New Zealand Cricket Players’ Association, and the players, were fully briefed on the process and Snedden said, "Following the traumatic experience in Karachi when the Black Caps last toured Pakistan we agreed that individual team members could make themselves unavailable if they were seriously concerned about safety.

The side for the tour will not be named until the process of discussion on the threat received is completed. New Zealand has at least one more match to play in India, and should it win, it would be required to play a final against Australia in Kolkata on Tuesday. The first match in Pakistan is at Faisalabad on November 22. Four NZ players opt out of Pakistan tour

:smack: not again! :smack:

its amazing that black caps are the only team to receive a threat. its something i've never heard before that a team is threatened for touring pakistan. i won't be surprised if this latest news by nz is proved to be a lie.

If those 4 players do opt out, then we have a chance of trying more new players :D

So let's wait til somewhere in PAK a bomb goes up (Allah na karray) and the whole NZ-Team will blast the tour to hurry home to prepare them selve for a long NZ-Summer with PAK + SA touring

Bullseye, just ask the proteas, they had to cry to Lloyd to get him banned.
Remember the last time Kiwis face Shoaib in Pakistan?

Maybe they are. If South Africans were an indication of the gora level of confidence facing Shoaib, then NZ'ers must be crapping their pants right about...now.
