NZ tour of Pakistan

Good news from Pakistan’s point of view. Kiwis Cricket Board agreed to visit Pakistan immediately after the conclusion of their Indian tour in November.

Pakistan and New Zealand will play Best of 5 ODIs series.

New Zealand will play a five-match one-day series in Pakistan in November, it has been confirmed.

It will be the Black Caps’ first visit since last May, when they aborted the second Test after a suicide bomb attack outside the team hotel in Karachi killed 14 people

Martin Snedden, chief executive of New Zealand Cricket, said: **“NZC agrees that the team will visit Pakistan immediately after the conclusion of our tour of India to participate in a five-match ODI series.” **

Security fears since the bomb blast have led to several teams refusing to tour there, financially crippling the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

In March, the International Cricket Council ruled New Zealand did not have to pay compensation to Pakistan for cutting short their tour.

Rameez Raja, chief executive of the PCB, hopes the New Zealand tour will encourage other nations to play in Pakistan.

“We are delighted with the news because it would open doors for international teams to resume tours to Pakistan more regularly,” Rameez said.

**"We are already hosting Bangladesh and South Africa between August and October but the tour by the Black Caps will be significant as they were the last team to come to Pakistan before their tour was curtailed.

"New Zealand’s consent clearly proves that NZC has complete faith in the commitments of Pakistan government and PCB to provide security to its players.

“New Zealand’s acceptance also indicates that we were not only able to convince NZC but also the ICC that Pakistan was a safe country to play cricket.” **

Rameez said the PCB would look at finalizing a tour schedule now that NZC had committed to the one-day series.

**The confirmation of New Zealand’s tour means Pakistan will host six Tests and 13 one-day internationals between August and November. ** :k:

Little correction here, its not the NBA, all 5 ODIs will be played no matter what.

Anyways, good news for Pakistan cricket, some of these young cricketers have never played home games and will definitly help their morale front of their home crowd and this series might just decide if India plays in pakistan next year.

Correct but still whoever wins 3 matches, will win the series. :D That's why I said Best of 5 ODIs matches.

Either way you look it Umair, we both are fine. :D

Pak-NZ ODIs: PCB to net additional revenue

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will net additional revenue from hosting the five One-day International match series against New Zealand in November as it is not covered in the television rights contract signed with the Dubai based Ten Sports Channel.

A senior official of the Board has explained that the five-year contract with Ten Sports which guarantees the PCB total revenues of approximately $42 million in this period, does not cover the series against New Zealand. “The series is not part of our official itinerary for the next five year as per the future tours programme of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Infact all tournaments not scheduled under the FTP are not covered in the television rights contract with Ten Sports.”

He said that the **Board would be paid outside the contractual amount by Ten Sports for marketing and selling the broadcasting rights of these “unscheduled” tournaments like the series against New Zealand.

“That means additional income for the Board, which would be welcome,”** he added.

He pointed out that the ICC had no objections to boards negotiating and playing such unscheduled series outside the FTP. He also confirmed that the tour itinerary for the series against New Zealand would only be finalized after the New Zealand Cricket Board sent in their available dates in November.

“Right now they are waiting for final dates from the Indians after which they will let us know the exact time frame they would be in Pakistan in November.”

Nice to know Kiwis agreed to play in the National Stadium Karachi. Venues and tour dates will be finalized later.

All matches will be played in the Holy month of Ramadan.

NZ ready to play matches in Karachi, says Rameez

KARACHI: New Zealand Cricket Chief Executive Martin Snedden has told the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that his team has no objections to playing at Karachi on their forthcoming tour to Pakistan.

Snedden will be meeting with his PCB counterpart Rameez Raja in London next week on the sidelines of the International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings to finalize New Zealand’s tour in November to play five one-day Internationals.

But Rameez confirmed on Wednesday that New Zealand had conveyed no objections to playing at Karachi on the coming tour.

“Snedden has requested to have talks in London to finalize their tour itinerary and other details as the matches would be held during holy month of Ramazan,” said Rameez.

The New Zealand team had returned home in May 2002 without playing a scheduled Test at the National Stadium in Karachi after a bomb blast outside their team hotel on the morning of the match left 12 people dead and scores injured.

It is in lieu of the cancelled Test that they have agreed to play five One-day Internationals in November to enable the PCB to make up some lost revenues.

Rameez said that in London he would also be meeting with officials of other cricket boards to discuss unscheduled series outside the future tours programme of the ICC and also set up some assignments for the Pakistan ‘A’ and Under-19 teams.

"It is very important for us to have regular exchanges for the ‘A’ and Under-19 teams in the coming months as it would allow us to develop our fringe players at the international level.

Rameez and the PCB Chairman Lt. General Tauqir Zia will leave on June 13 to attend the ICC and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meetings scheduled between 14 and 18th June.

He confirmed that Pakistan was preparing a proposal for discussion at the ICC meetings on several important issues like uniform implementation of players code of conduct, ball tampering laws, etc.

Rameez will attend the cricket committee playing meeting on June 15 and 16 while Tauqir Zia will be attending the executive board meeting on 17th and 18th which would be split with a session also planned in Monaco where the ICC is registered as a commercial organization.

On June 14 both the PCB officials will attend the ACC meeting in which Rameez said obviously Pakistan would like to know of any progress made by the Indian Board with reference to getting permission from their government to resume bilateral cricket ties.

did they forget what happened to them on their last tour...after a 2-0 humiliating defaet, they took the covers of TERRORISM to run away from the whitewash....

Lets hope 2 of their biggest enemies from that tour Shoaib and Inzi comeback.

First Kiwis agreed to play in Karachi. Now, they don’t want to.

Kiwis agree Pakistan return

**New Zealand have agreed to play five one-day matches in Pakistan next month. **

It will be the first time they have visited Pakistan since aborting a tour in July 2002 after a bomb exploded outside the team hotel in Karachi.

The incident traumatised a number of New Zealand’s players with skipper Stephen Fleming later saying that it would haunt him for life.

The itinerary for the forthcoming tour will be restricted to the cities of Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore.

Karachi was the centre of attention again last month when another explosion led to South Africa cancelling a tour.

It was eventually salvaged after the Pakistan Cricket Board agreed to move games away from Karachi and Peshawar.

The New Zealand squad will travel to Pakistan following a tour to India, which could end only four days before their opening game.

**New Zealand's tour schedule:

Date Match Venue **

Nov 22 1st ODI Faisalabad
Nov 24 2nd ODI Rawalpindi
Nov 25 3rd ODI Rawalpindi
Nov 29 4th ODI Lahore
Dec 1 5th ODI Lahore

Does Pakistan have only 3 venues to offer, what about other places like Gujranwala, Multan, Hyderabad etc.
Too many matches @ same venue.

good :k:

If not Karachi come-on give a match each to Sialkot, Gujranwala and Multan. People everywhere want to see live cricket.

During SA tour 2 matches each at Pindi and Lahore were acceptable because of short time available but now we have time to prepare other venues too.

Astle hopeful of facing Pakistan

WELLINGTON, Oct 30: Batsman Nathan Astle, who returned home early from New Zealand’s cricket tour of India with a knee problem, has a new injury, a small tear in his left patella tendon.

He has been placed on a strengthening programme.

It is hoped this will have him available in time for consideration for a place in the side to play in home series against Pakistan. Rob Campbell, doctor to Black Caps, said while the injury was a new one, it was similar to a previous injury involving his left knee.

He is hopeful Astle can return to club cricket in December. -PPI

Watch out…

Iam looking forward to this series...after the indian tour kiwies are not going to be easy to beat...i hope astle makes it back into the team and Chris Cairns returns to Explusive form with Bat.

While I am not defending PCB's decision to play in these 3 cities only, could it be that the security concerns might have dictated the venues. The level of security being provided to these visiting teams might mean that they can only be provided in these cities. Obviously they could provide it in Karachi but the visiting teams don't want to play there. Just a thought.

Salaam
great now that we officially know the dates we all should form a petition and email dishnetwork to show the matches on ppv
man for the first time ever for Pak vs SA series dishnetwork had the most reasonable price,
I mean I if u have to pay 30 instead of 200 and the only downside being ARY digital adds then why not go for 30$ as ads are fun to watch especially
"Saki pila mujhe" ad

Lets hope dish shows it
