over all it is a good team and amer sohail has done a reasonable job...he can not make every one happy and so far he is fair to some extent, i guess he is doing a good job.. at least he has guts to drop any senior or bing name if he is not performing and that is why tauqeer zia is keeping amer...
[/QUOTE]
Elahi's only flaw is his shuffeling across the wicket which gets him plumb everytime, Amir Sohail was critical of that during the WC but he was also a victim of shuffeling across the wicket.
Why are people cryimg about Hafeez and Afridi, for gods sake we dont need such bits and pieces players at the top of our batting line up. Our lineup looks pretty good rite now, with Taufeeq, Farhat and Yasir Hameed at the top.
Secondly i doubt Elahi, is going to play. He's only included because Taufeeq is unfit. And most probably Yasir will open with Farhat, if Taufeeq is unable to play.
Our middle order looks good too, with Asim Kamal and Misbah along with Youhanna and Inzamam. Younis should have been included in the 22 man squad, thats the only fault i see in the selections. Apart from that everything else looks good
And people like Mansoor Amjad, abdul Rauf and Junaid Zia, should be kept out of the National Squad, they should stick to the Domestic circuit. Our bowling attack looks pretty good rite now.
And finally its good to see selectors looking forward to Kamran Akmal. Its finally time to give Rashid Latif and Moin Khan a break.

Exclusion of Junaid Zia is understandable since he was given a chance and he didn't perform but whats wrong with trying other players? Another good pacer or spinner in the team can't be too bad.

The selectors continue to ignore Younis and utility players like Muhammad Hafeez and Shahid Afridi in the one-day squad, something which is quite puzzling and is hard to digest.
No one in Pakistan will be willing to say that these three are spent forces and not good enough to be around in the Pakistan team when the next World Cup is played.
Plus they are still very young and definitely have more of an exuberance in their approach. **Afridi also has been showing good form in the South African domestic cricket.
Younis Khan, despite his recent poor form, remains an ideal all-round one-day cricketer and can come good at crisis times.
And wicketkeeping, despite all the recent theories, remains a specialist and vital spot in any team.
Kamran Akmal still has a lot to learn as far as wicketkeeping and consistency is concerned and even his batting does not have a real method to it, a factor well explited by good bowlers.

I think this is the only guy vouching for Muhammad Hafeez in whole of the cricketing world. Whats so good abt him? Same goes for Afridi. Same goes for Younis. He needs to stay away from the cricket and sort out his problems before making a comeback, if ever.
The decision to choose kamran is reasonable. Give him more chances and allow him to get adjusted to international cricket. This is our chance because we can test kamran for an extended period of time and if he proves a failure we can go back to Moin until we find another good young wicketkeeper.

how many more pacers and spinners do u need when we already have Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammed Sami, Danish Kaneria, Abdul Razzaq and Shaoib Malik in the lineup.

They don't necessarily have to play. They can serve as the understudy for Shoaib and other national bowlers.
i think Pakistan never dropped Saleem Elahi but there were only 15 players chosen for Sharjah and he was the 16th:D

pcb r killing azhar mehmood’s career slowly slowly by not letting him play regularly he’s such a gr8 talent far better than lanky raz’ :k:
saqi’ and mushi bhai have come under unfair criticism. saqi’ has hardly been given a chance to perform since the world cup so how can he prove his worth!!!
and mushi bhai played 1 odi then sat out rest of odi series against southern africa cos of injury, den he played two tests out of which all of the other bowlers were given lots of overs to bowl but mushy something like 10 to 13 overs per innings and kaneria 36 overs for example.
How can mushy bowl better with a limited amount of overs being given to him in a test match
, doesn’t pcb realise he has been out of international cric’ for 2 years he’s still understandibly rusty, he needs more than 2 matches and obviously more overs allocated to him in tests to perform, giving the guy 13 or 14 overs then 5 overs in the next innings isn’t giving him much to play with is it!!!
freaks like aamir sohail could only have come up with dat to slowly end mushi’s career 2 just like was’ bhai was forced to retire before he eventually retired although if we remember correctly he said he would continue until the team had been rebuilt!!! well after dat came the diabities news and he retired, just like the
is hoping to do the same to waq’ bhai and moin as of late.. wat a gr8 selector for pak cric’

Unease with naming of ODI squad
Sohail selections leave bitter taste

November 7, 2003
Hardly had the ink dried on yesterday’s announcement of Pakistan’s 22-man probables squad for the forthcoming one-day series against New Zealand, than Inzamam-ul-Haq, the captain, and Javed Miandad, the coach, revealed that they hadn’t been consulted about the choices.
The news left Aamir Sohail, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s chief selector, isolated as it was later revealed that he hadn’t spoken to Rameez Raja, the PCB’s chairman, either before picking the side. PCB regulations state that the chief selector has to get the approval of the chairman before finalising any squad.
Publically, Rameez, Inzamam and Miandad refused to comment, but sources suggested that they are livid at the perceived snub. Privately, the deteriorating relationship between Sohail and many officials within the PCB may be brought to a head sooner rather than later.
Sohail should have learned from the furore which resulted last month from his announcement of Junaid Zia, the son of Lt-Gen. Tauqir Zia - the chairman of the Pakistan board - as captain of the Pakistan A team for the Emerging Trophy in Sri Lanka. Less than 24 hours later Zia senior had to stage a climbdown, telling the media that he had overruled the appointment of his own son.

i remember wen hafeez had played his first series (sharjah cup) ppl were saying that pcb has found a replacement for afridi n he is 100 times better than afridi and much more. but now wen hafeez is showing his real colours ppl are bashing him.
n abt afridi i think that he shud've played vs nzl
Hafeez is still a better player than Afridi, but that should not be taken as the rule of inclusion into team. We have better openers now compared to Hafeez and Afridi. Look at the choice of opening: Taufeeq Umar, Imran Farhat, Yasir Hameed, Saleem Elahi. Do you think Hafeez can compete with these guys for batting skills? If he can prove his worth in domestic circle I am sure he will stage a comeback, or if 3 of the above guys loose their form/fitness.
For “Azhar Mehmood better than Razzaq”,
come out of dreams please. Razzaq has proved time after time that he is much better than Azhar Mehmood. Please don’t bring Azhar’s county performance numbers to prove anything.
For including Abdul Rauf and Irshad I think PCB has done right thing to bring more and more pacers. Remember as soon as Wasim and Waqar were discarded after WC everyone questioned as to who will replace them, everyone was worried that we don’t have anymore pacers… why? because we had not given chances to waiting pacers. Its always good to have choices specially for pacers as they seem to break down faster than a batsman or keeper or spinner.
Check this another good article @ www.bbcurdu.com about droping of Rashid Latif and Moin Khan](http://www.bbc.co.uk/urdu/sport/story/2003/11/printable/031107_moin_out_si.shtml)

i wish he was pcb chairman
Aamir Sohail should be fired. He's only good for creating problems. I don't know if you guys remember but he was bashing Javed Miandad and the coaching in one of the games vs South Africa ODI. He did the same acouple of times and one of the Pakistani writers wrote an article about this cat. He's weak. He really pisses me off with his low blows at everyone except for Tauqir Zia.
Saleem Elahi should not be included in the team. He hasn't done anything to be included in the team. Plus i heard his brother had some business relationship with the sponsors. As usual, pakistani's will be pakistani's.
just 6months ago PCB is talking about how Younis Khanwill be groomed to be the next captain. And now he is dropped? Imran khan, PCB all talk about consistency. I don't see any consistency in this team when they take out one of their best batsmen. Everyone struggles. Herschelle Gibbs was struggline too. But he didn't get benched over a long period of time.
You guys need to get off Imran Farhats jock strap also. He hasn't performed in any ODI yet. Shahid Afridi should be included in the team. He is a better option than some of the monkeys included in this team.
