NZ tour of Pakistan

I am looking forward to the ODI series although i wanted NZ to complete their test series first. PCB should have scheduled one test match that was discontinued on their last tour.

Shahid Afridi Averges 36+ against NZ

Mat Runs HS BatAv 100 50 W BB BowlAv 5w

                     19 543 108* 36.20 1 4 9 2/14 54.44 0

^^ wow thats surprising

And who will you drop in his place, Taufeeq, Imran or Shoaib Malik. No thank you.

We should have tossed him aside a long time ago. The team is fine. Drop no one, with the exception of bring Youhana back into the side.

when will the team be announced?

Ijaz Ahmed vs NZ at home

Ijaz Ahmed 7 173 73* 43.25 0 2 2 2/31 29.00 0 3 0

Averaged 43.25

Lets drop Taufeeq and Imran and bring Afridi and Ijaz.

"IJAJ" (as Gavaskar call him) can only play "Brian Lara Cricket" on TV now. I guess he is out of all forms of cricket from last 3 years but I do remember his inning against India at Lahore Stadium when he made *139 runs of 84 balls (10 fours and 9 sixes) * and Pakistan made *219 runs in 26.2 overs at the rate of 8.32 * :)

DC, I was being sarcastic when mentioned Ijaj over people still looking for Afridi.

Pakistan announced 22 probable for NZ ODI series

Pakistan sideline Saqlain and Mushtaq in new clear-out](http://www.cricketnext.com/news1/next/reutersNov03/reuters029.htm)
KARACHI, Nov 6 , 2003 (Reuters)

Pakistan have sidelined five senior players, including spinners Saqlain Mushtaq :smack: and Mushtaq Ahmed and wicketkeepers Rashid Latif and Moin Khan, for the one-day home series against New Zealand later this month.

Middle-order batsman Younis Khan :smack: was also left out from a 22-man provisional pool of players announced on Thursday for the five-match series.

Leg spinner Mushtaq played in the 1-0 test series win over South Africa last month. Off spinner Saqlain played in the one-dayers but was not selected for the tests and was later reprimanded for criticising coach Javed Miandad over his omission.

Chief selector Aamer Sohail told Reuters that young wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal had been selected “to groom a keeper for the future. Rashid and Moin are proven performers”.

Former Pakistan captain Latif pulled out of the test series against South Africa, citing personal commitments and opening the way for Moin’s recall after 30 months out of the team.

The selectors recalled 27-year-old opener Saleem Elahi, who was dropped in a major clearout after the World Cup.

Strike bowler Shoaib Akhtar, who will miss the first two matches against New Zealand after being banned for swearing while playing against South Africa, has been included in the group.

The one-dayers start at Faisalabad on November 22.

Squad:

Imran Farhat, Salman Butt, Saleem Elahi, Taufeeq Umar, Yasir Hameed, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Yousuf Youhana, Asim Kamal, Misbah-ul-Haq, Bilal Asad, Abdul Razzaq, Azhar Mahmood, Shoaib Malik, Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Sami, Umar Gul, Shabbir Ahmed, Abdul Rauf, Mohammad Irshad, Fahad Masood, Kamran Akmal, Danish Kaneria.

Finally they are looking for a future wicket keeper. Saqlain and Mushtaq couldn’t prove much in last few games, better to stick to upcoming bowlers then dying legends.

Leaving Younis out of ODI is okay, but inclusion of Saleem Elahi :smack:. What wrong have our openers done after dropping Hafeez to invite Saleem? If it is to tell him that we are not done with him yet, then fine… but he shouldn’t be part of final 14/15 squad, let the new openers prove themselves, let them groom.

Azhar Mahmood :smack: . leave him alone, let him play county. We need new all rounders, may be Naved Latif or other medium pacer-all rounder.

Salim Elahi..What exactly has he done to deserve a recall? He's just a mediocre batsman in my opinion. And looks like Aamir is continuing with his policy of chop, and changet:

Saleem Elahi, Misbah-ul-Haq, Bilal Asad, Abdul Rauf, Mohammad Irshad, Fahad Masood.

Saleem Elahi is back for no apparent reason. Misbah's seen more people come and go from the pavilion than any third umpire. Bilal Asad was picked for England, and dropped for mysterious reasons. Abdul rauf, Irshad and Fahad nobody knows about. Which reminds me, whatever happened to Mansoor Amjad? That 17 year old guy who was in the squad last series and has disappeared again?

And someone was saying Aamir should be given credit. snort.

Hmm I suspected that, not that I am a fan of Elahi or god forbid I agree with A. Sohail’s (PCB’s) ‘rebuilding process’ illusion, but we have to be objective. I do not get this .. that everyone picks on Elahi .. he has pretty good numbers .. one of his highlight of his 40 match career has been 3 centuries in four games … now how many players from Pakistan or any country have done that … a very few and those few are big names… that is one hell of a performance considering Pak batsmen struggle mediocre attacks. In his 40 matches he has scored 4 centuries, and 7 fifties with an average of 36.13 … very impressive performance from the perspective of Pakistani batting talent… players like Nazir, Hafeez, Younis and Afridi might look ‘sexier’ than paindoo looking Elahi but he outshines them by far with his cricketing abilities. The reason he got axed from the team in the first place was his good relationship with Waqar. In World Cup against Australia and Namibia he was the only batsman (although it was not the best batting) who mustered some reasonable batting. Nazir and Afridi are explosive and talented and exiting to watch but highly unprofessional players who have not improved a bit! As far as Hafeez and Younis .. well they are two hard working guys with lot of cricketing sense but they did not deliver. One of the few and rare correct decision made by PCB!

pata nai kithon banday lub ke laanda ee Sohail :smack:

Do you wonder why Hafeez and Younis are not in the team? They didn't deliver! If Saleem Elahi has done some good job in domestic season than he sure deserves it. BTW, Wajahatullah Wasti was doing good in domestic season this year last time I checked ;)

^ how about bring afridi in domestic team.. if he does well then bring him on the team elsejust reserve him for Double wicket tournment…

no games in karachi :frowning:

anwyay.. it will be exciting.. 3rd test walay din meri birthday hia.. i hope osi din hum series bhi jeet jain 3-0:love:
