**PEACE campaigners today marked the 60th anniversary of the atom bomb being dropped on Nagasaki.
Some 80,000 people died, 74,000 of them almost immediately, when the United States released the bomb on the Japanese city at 11.02am in 1945.
**
The American B-29 Bockscar dropped its deadly load on Nagasaki at three days after the first atom bomb landed on Hiroshima, killing at least 140,000.
Nagasaki was only hit after pilots found their primary target, Kokura, obscured by cloud.
In the city today, a siren wailed and a bronze bell rang at the moment the bomb hit. About 6000 people, including hundreds of ageing bomb survivors, crowded into Nagasaki’s Peace Memorial Park, just a few hundred yards from the centre of the blast, for a solemn remembrance.

The US of A is a disgrace even today they are so arrogant they continue to justify that they where right to nuclear bomb civillain cities, lets see when the Yanks suffer a nuclear bombing themselves maybe they will learn the hard way what it feels like to feel the force of a nuclear fallout!**
Yeah, The US of A is a disgrace for ending WWII and the tryannical Japanese reign in Asia while killing only about 3% of what was killed in Bangledash which didn't do anything to further any cause. Huh?
^Aah so nice to see the peace and democracy loving Americans side stepping the main issue and comparing themselves to the what happened in BD. Really high morals indeed.
But than they did it to shorten the war or at least they like to justify it that way. They also would like us to believe that they went into Iraq to rid the world from WMD’s and into Afghanistan to capture Osama. They never knew Iraq had oil till they went in there.
I kind of like the way every news story in CNN about Nagasaki’s anniversary is prefix’d by the statement “60th anniversary of the nuclear bomb being dropped in Nagasaki to end the World War”. Just keeps a positive spin on the whole thing. Go CNN :k:
I do wonder what residents of Nagasaki feel after knowing that the original target of the second atomic bomb was infact the city of Kokura. However it was obscured by clouds and the air crew of “Bockscar” made three runs over the city and having fuel running low due to a fuel-transfer problem, headed for their secondary target, Nagasaki (Source: Wikipedia). Its just that Kokura residents were saved by God at the last possible minute, and Nagasaki residents were left to pick up their dead.
Oh, I thought the moral high ground was being claimed by the pious posters with an unblemished history that spend their time chastising other countries instead of doing anything of doing anything themselves to better the world.
Aah and so nice to see the peace loving Pakistanis concerned about Japanese and now Iraqis and Afghanis (in the same unrelated thread no less), when once again you did nothing to better the situation but Monday morning quarterback when you don’t even have a throwing arm.
^ throwing arm? Pakistan is the center, bent over, hiking the ball to America. A key member of the team, Mr. Seminole. And that is where they shall remain. It is the salary cap era and frankly, we need to keep payroll low to avoid the luxury tax.
^ well they both usually "play for the other team"...but(t?) it is important for this season to keep the center from stopping the illegal motion they have been reading about in their playbooks.
the yanks as usual could'nt give a damn about nuclear bombing and killing hundreds of thousands they are truly sick in the head not even an apology or comment to say what a mistake it was.
These are not tight ends, wide receivers, centers or anyone else on the team making criticisms and judgments. They are wannabe players that weren't good enough to be drafted. They coudn't even make the CFL. They have dreams of playing, but are bitter and sardonic because they think they are good enough, but obviously don't even know how the game is played or how to win - just how to be sore losers, sit on the sidelines and throw things at the Super Bowl Champs.
^ superbowl chimps wat are you on about now i think you should go out more often this topic is about the masscres committed by the disgraceful nation called the United States and the wholesale slaughter of civillains in japan with the use of nuclear bombs has it registered yet or are you still living in a state of denial!
No, I think we are all fairly certain that Japan was defeated in WWII, and that war overall is an ugly thing.
Those who support the bombing believe that it help put an end to the war faster and its use resulted in fewer casualties overall compared to if it hadn't been used.
If you want to debate that then do so but you just offer pathetic comments that are emotionally charged that pay no attention to the facts surrounding the situation
but this is expected as you have set your child like precedent long ago, you don't like to debate you like to throw mud and run away, you add nothing. But hey, if that helps you vent brother then by all means carry on.
